We ordered the herring sandwich with two fillets, skin on for $9. The order was prepared right in front of us in a timely manner. The breading was light, crunchy, and absolutely amazing. My husband and I come to this truck whenever we stop in Grand Marais. You cannot beat the product or the price. And who doesn’t love sitting on the shores of Lake Superior enjoying your meal? I highly recommend supporting these local fishermen. You won’t be disappointed.

What I understand is, these are the same guys that supply the fish to the rest of the restaurants in the area, I think one of the best kept secrets on the North Shore! Super fresh, amazing taste, down home service, and an amazing value

If you’re in the mood for some fresh fish and are in the Grand Marais area. This is the spot to go to. Piping hot and so so good. Its just a small stand but it sure delivers.

Really wish I snagged a picture of the trout nuggets but they looked so good that I totally forgot to take a picture. After eating in Grand Marais all weekend, this spot definitely was the best. Reason? Quality, cost, and amount of food! Everything about this food truck is fresh too. Poot makes a DELICIOUS tartar sauce and to my appeasement- they even had packets of Malt Vinegar! We ate at one of the picnic tables out front, but on our way back to our car noticed some other picnic tables by the water. Highly recommend if you want to enjoy some delicious local fish and not break the bank. 10/10.

Hard to describe how happy I am to leave this review. Got the 6 fillet dinner special. First of all- best food deal in town. Serving full fillets, huge portions great breading- everything was excellent. Tartar sauce was awesome. My new go to spot- hope they are here for years to come!

Trout nuggets were incredible, great light batter on beautiful fresh fish! The cajun fries were perfectly cooked with a delicious mix of spices and the dill tartar sauce was something special. We ate it in the rain with our dog and could not have been happier. Bonus points for giving my dog a treat, her joy is my joy 🙂

We’ve been coming up here for 45 years. In days past, we always bought our fish at the “other” place in town. The fried herring here is far and away the freshest and best fish we’ve had here. The fries are also great. Don’t waste your time getting Walleye elsewhere, this is real Minnesota fish. Top notch.

In town for the day and saw the sandwich board for this place. Wow! What a phenomenal lunch. The herring sandwich was amazing. Cajun fries so tasty and perfectly done. Unbelievable value given portion size and price. If you have not been here this is a must stop while in town.

We were on our way to the other fish restaurant up by the folk school and grumbling about their fish being sourced from Wisconsin when we noticed a sign on a food truck that said Local Fish. So we stopped and ordered a sandwich with fries and a basket with fries. For around 30 bucks we got six pieces of fried herring and a giant helping of fries in the basket as well as a good size sandwich with a couple of fillets and another giant side of fries. Delicious and glad to support a local fisherman.
