We went at noon on a Saturday and we got a table right away. Although our server, Brenda E., said it was unusually slow. Maybe due to graduation parties. Lucky us!!!
We were a party of 5. Four of us ordered breakfast and my husband had lunch, the hot roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. It was wonderful! Tons of meat and smothered in gravy. Such a huge portion that he had to take some home. That’s rare that he can’t finish a meal!
I had 1 egg lightly basted, half a portion of crispy hash browns and 1 slice of toast. I also added 1 small pancake because the pancake reviews were So good that I wanted to try it for myself. The egg and hash browns were cooked perfectly as ordered and tasted really good. My toast was lighter than I like, so next time I would ask for well done toast. Now that “SMALL” pancake that I ordered off of the 55 and over menu was OUTSTANDING and HUGE! Everyone at our table tried a bite and they all raved about how good it was.
I would go there again just to get that pancake!
Our server, Brenda E. was fantastic! I can’t give her enough praise. We didn’t want for anything. She was on top of it.
I really liked the under 10 and over 55 menu. Smaller portions and the prices are cheap!
I will definitely go back again. I highly recommend that you give them a try.
You won’t be disappointed!
The service was phenomenal. Our server was very attentive and we also had the opportunity to meet the owner. What a rich history this family owned restaurant has. The next time I’m in Minneapolis I will definitely be coming back.
Highly recommend but as always see for yourself
I came in expecting a meal. What I received was something closer to a memory in the making.
There were no flashy ingredients. No towering stacks of novelty food. Just a plate with a perfectly folded omelet—filled edge to edge with sausage, ham, and melted cheese that clung to every bite like it knew exactly what comfort meant. Each forkful was rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying, the kind of food that doesn’t just feed you—it grounds you.
And the raisin toast? It might have been the most surprising part. Crisp at the edges, soft in the center, generously buttered and gently spiced—it tasted like something your grandmother would’ve proudly served, if your grandmother happened to be a breakfast genius. It didn’t need fanfare. It just needed to be exactly what it was: honest, nostalgic, and quietly perfect.
The coffee was strong and steady, poured with a smile that felt like it belonged in a town where people still know your name. No rush. No pretense. Just good food, served right.
The North Pole Restaurant doesn’t try to be trendy. It doesn’t have to. It understands something too many places forget—that simplicity, when done with care, becomes something extraordinary.
If you’re ever in Newport, go. Order the omelet. Get the raisin toast. Sit for a minute. And remember what it feels like to start your day with something real.
