Food was tasty, fresh and portions were plentiful. I love watching my food being prepared. One tip is wear hair nets. I got hair in my sauce. I didn’t complain but that’s when I noticed they weren’t being worn however, it matched the waitress not the cooks. Other than that everything was great.

The restaurant is located on a great segment of North Ave. It’s very walkable, with plenty of businesses around. This is a main street, basically. I visited on a Friday afternoon and waited about 15 minutes for a table. The waiting area is small; there are two benches for waiting.
I tried the Fish Fry Platter, which is basically a sampler of all their different types of fish fry. The food was good and came out piping hot. I loved the fries, and the in-house tartar sauce was also very good. If you visit on a Friday, I highly recommend the Fish Fry. It’s good and not at all fishy.
The Reuben bites were okay but a little too meaty. They were more meaty than the average corned beef. Next time I visit, I’ll try their burger.
Service was absolutely amazing. No complaints whatsoever.

Wow… is definitely a word I can use to describe this place. This is a cozy little restaurant with absolutely delicious food. A nice variety of items on the menu. Great service and attentive staff. The atmosphere is great. The major negative is that it’s not located on the south side where I am. You literally feel like you went into a small town Mom and Pop diner that has been serving food created from their family recipes…. and you are just privileged to have been able to stop in and experience it. Amazing portion sizes. The Cubano sandwich was absolutely one of the best I’ve ever had. The salads were amazing as was the club sandwich. I feel sorry for all the other restaurants nearby as this should be your only go to place. You will love it.

This has been my go to place for over a decade! Everything they serve there is simply the best in taste and freshness! Try there Philly Cheese Steak, Cuban sandwich, and there Friday fish fry is the best I always get the Walleye beer batter fried!! The service is the best too the waitress are so very courteous and professional!! I’ve never had a bad experience in all the years I’ve been going there!! I highly recommend this place! A blast from the past. When you step down into this little diner you e stepped back to the golden years. A real 45 record jukebox is in the corner! Rhonda served the four of us for dinner not ever having been here before. Our trip from Eau Claire to Milwaukee was for the zoo and for my twins birthday. Miss Rhonda was above and beyond serving excellent food and complimentary cupcakes for the twins birthday. All of Miss Katie’s staff were welcoming and amazing. We noticed that Michelle Obama and Bill Clinton have also found this little hidden gem!

Solid breakfast joint. Chicken Fried Steak Biscuits and Gravy was amazing. The bloody mary was delicious, filled with bacon, pickle, and a handful of cheese curds. The Chicken and waffles looked great, didn’t get to try it though. It was a busy morning, but the wait went fast. The staff was busting ass in that kitchen. Hosts and servers were great also.

I was thinking, “Oh great, another over priced breakfast”. I was wrong. By far the best meal we had on this road trip and worth every penny! Huge, delicious and fresh portions! Our server was amazing. The food came out fast! We were sitting by the kitchen and I found myself commenting, “Look at those pancakes!” “Look at those waffles” Everything looked great and we will be going back!!!! The place was packed! Well done North Avenue Cafe, can’t wait to come back!

A comfortable local diner serving great food. One of our favorite casual lunch spots in Wauwatosa. We have honestly never had anything here we didn’t enjoy. They serve both breakfast and lunch all day.
Among our favorites are the chili, the reuben, and the buffalo chicken wrap. The fries are fantastic – always crispy and well seasoned. The portions are huge. You could easily split an entree between two people.
The restaurant can get busy, especially on the weekends, but the wait is usually less than 20 minutes and they do a good job of getting everyone in and out quickly. The food comes out fast, so this is a good spot if you’re looking for a quick meal.
The price point is very reasonable, especially considering the generous portion sizes. Overall, it is a great value for a delicious meal.

Came here for my first Wisconsin Friday fish fry as they seemed to have the largest variety of fish in their platter. I was not disappointed. The portion was huge! A really large walleye fillet plus 3 each smaller lake perch and bluegill fillets. The bluegill was a bit fishy, but in a good way. It brought me back to when I was a boy fishing with my dad and cooking up the catch right there. The coleslaw was delicious and French onion soup pretty solid. The potato pancake was a bit of a letdown, the texture was way too dense. The coffee flavorings are not included on free coffee refills. That lost a star, if you’re gonna charge $4.50 for a mug of drip coffee, the couple pumps of flavor best be included with the refills.
