Located in the heart of NW Portland’s “Restaurant Row,” North 45 is a neighborhood pub with a love for international travel. North 45, the name inspired by the pub’s location on the 45th parallel, is a cozy place to meet your neighbors or people watch with friends while sipping a local craft beer or cocktail. It is also the perfect place for an intimate candle-lit dinner for two over one of the seven differently prepared mussels and pommes frites – an authentic mussels and french fries dish. If whiskey is your weakness, choose from over 150 bottles of some the finest bourbons, ryes, Irish and Scotch whiskies around. North 45 also features a rotating wine list and an extensive collection of delicious Belgian beers.
Travel-themed gastropub with a patio offering global eats, rotating wines & lots of Belgian beers.

1 star for opening late and another star for our server, the rest is no bueno
Oh and one last thing, my husband saw drops of blood in the restroom, on the floor and toilet seat, yikes
First, in any bad review, give the good.
Ignore first impressions as the patio is worth the walk through of the dank bar. And the beer list is really good.
Second, I’ve been here multiple times prior. The pub menu is solid…if you get served.
The Bad
Showed up at 4:15 before a 6:30 soccer game. Most tables were empty, but they had two large parties.
Not only did it take 15 minutes to have our order taken, multiple tables that arrived after us got beverages a long time before us.
Food orders were erratically delivered over the next 60 minutes…frequently with the food out of the kitchen waiting by the door for 10 minutes or more to get to our table 10 feet away. It did not arrive warm.
The last food arrived 5 minutes after our planned departure.
The Ugly
When it was clear our beer orders (and food orders subsequently) were lost or unreasonably delayed compared to other patrons, the wait staff was condescending and curt simply saying “it will arrive shortly.” Which it did not.
One of my table members who waited half an hour for a beer and over an hour for a hamburger voiced sufficient concern that a manager did show up before we checked out.
The manager explained that he had multiple unexpected absences on his staff and 2 unexpected large parties.
This explains why service was overwhelmed, but not why our table was missed while others were served promptly.
Further, it did not explain either why his staff couldn’t tell us the bar and kitchen were overwhelmed or apologize and try to hurry when clearly we’d been forgotten.
IF you choose to go, which I don’t recommend, count the waitstaff to table ratio and ask if the kitchen is backed up. If your order is delayed, leave. 21st Street has plenty of good options. In 17 years I have had only 1 horrific experience. Here.
The only reason I’d give service a 2 star is because every server in the building was always busy doing something or talking amongst each other, having us awkwardly wait for any new order /:
Especially turned off when another server came up asking if we needed anything; mid order another patron caught her attention and then she completely redirected to them, took their order and just left us there looking like dummy’s. I was embarrassed.
I ordered the Lemon Buerre mussels and the sauce was just as Yummy as a French Restaurant we like to frequent down the street. Our main waitress at the bar with curly hair made great drinks and my husband was excited to find a beer we’d have back in France.
Great cocktails, unique tap list, huge liquor selection and food is delicious! Plus 2 patios‼️ The back patio is HUGE; covered and heated during the off season.
What makes this place special is the staff! I can honestly say, regardless who you are, they genuinely care about your experience. They compassionately welcome you from the moment you pass through the door.
As I said, there are a lot of great places in Portland. N45 is the special escape you need to include in your life!
Game day, DJ nights, special events, date night, or just need to let your hair down you won’t be disappointed
The only recommendation is to turn the sound on when there is a Blazer or Timbers game on.
