I have NO idea how this place has such glowing reviews.
To start off… we placed an order at 2 pm on a Tuesday afternoon. We were given a pickup time of 2:15-2:30. We did not leave that restaurant with our food until 3:20 pm… and there was NO ONE In the restaurant!!

When we arrived Norah came out of the kitchen after about 5 minutes of us being there. She came out and said
“you guys placed a big order and I have to go from pot to pot and make sure everything is right” so we said “no problem, take your time!” She was a very nice lady. But we placed an order of 2 meals and a couple sides… it took almost 1 hour and 30 minutes to get that meal made and there was nobody else there. What does she do if a family of four comes in to have a meal? We didn’t order a lot at all.

We heard some great reviews, weren’t from the area, and decided to wait assuming the food would be worth it.
Sadly, this was not our experience. The food all had to be thrown out after a few bites. This “restaurant” should have pure grease and oil as a menu item. That is all we could taste, see, feel, and smell. Not to mention the fact that I needed to wash the inside of my car that now had oil stains on it… please look at the photos I attached. That doesn’t even cover how bad the grease and oil was.

Nothing tasted fresh and everything was completely soaked with oil. Even the bag with bread had oil all over it.
Not to mention she took all that time and still forgot two of the things we ordered. Maybe one day Norah had a great restaurant and that’s the reason for some decent reviews. In our current day and age, not only would I NOT recommend this place, l urge you to STAY AWAY from the grease restaurant!

These were the worst oxtail I’ve ever had. I’ve tried this place several times. The first time was great. I tried to give them a chance but I can not. The food is so inconsistent. I ordered today and the oxtail tasted like they were soaked in barbecue sauce instead of the standard gravy. They were so tough I could barely get them off the bone. I was also supposed to receive a free jerk chicken empanada for placing an order above $25. They did not honor that deal. The last time I ordered, the rice and peas were hard. I don’t appreciate having my money taken and not receiving anything worth spending. I’m not sure how they are still in business but definitely not worth the money. Don’t order here.

Cozy mom and son spot, no frills but authentic Jamaican food made to order. They order items in small quantities to ensure freshness so not everything is always available on the menu. Make sure you call ahead to see what is available. Generous portions, good for family style or sharing.

From the moment I walked in, the service was amazing—everyone was extremely friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. It felt like stepping into a place that truly appreciates its customers.
The food? Next level. I got the jerk chicken empanada, oxtail cheesesteak, fries, and even tried the fried chicken sandwich. Every single thing was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The jerk chicken empanada was bursting with spice and tenderness, the oxtail cheesesteak was unbelievably rich and delicious, and the fried chicken sandwich was crispy, juicy, and absolutely worth trying. Even the fries were on point.
The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of good vibes—perfect for a casual meal or a relaxing hangout.
If you’re anywhere near Long Branch, do yourself a favor and stop by Norah’s Irie. I’ll definitely be coming back!

The food is awful, I placed my order through Uber and what I got was overly salty and overdone lemon pepper, wings, and my egg rolls I ordered a sweet potato and an oxtail one and they were burnt so they weren’t even edible to chew. And I ordered the mac & cheese as well, and it is so incredibly burnt, and the cheese is curdled, which means that the cheese sauce was overdone. Ultimately, I ended up, deciding not to even try the oxtail or the curry chicken based off of the poor experience from what I already received. In total my order was $103.86, I hate how it is a common thing for restaurants to not give the best quality of their food when they are doing Uber.

Live in the area and heard this place was great through social media such as tiktok. Food was flavorful and pretty big portions but for the hype i was receiving i was a bit underwhelmed. It was my first time trying jamaican food so i was pretty excited but after a 32 min wait for a small fried rice platter it just wasn’t worth the price or inconvenience of trying it. Maybe next time i will order something else but it will take me a lot to come back, there is more bang for your buck else where in the monmouth county, But cool atmosphere and small store aesthetic.

My wife and I were in the hospital nearby with our 9 week old daughter. We were stressed, scared and hungry. I went over to Norah’s irie on. A whim because my wife wanted jerk chicken. I got the oxtail Rasta pasta. And we both turned to each other and said it was one of the best meals we’re ever had.

The restaurant was empty besides a seeet little lady named Nora. She was welcoming, attentive, friendly and calming. I don’t think she knew at the time how badly I needed the conversation. We talked all while she was cooking our food.

This leads me to addressing these bogus 1 star reviews beneath this one. If you want cookie cut food and prompt service go to McDonald’s. If you want to order through a kiosk and have empty interactions by all means. But this is a mom and pop local store with authentic food and cooking methods. Order ahead of time or wait. I’ll take quality over speed any day. If you drove here based off a video you saw online just to then bash the establishment after you need to look in the mirror and maybe open your heart a bit.

I will be returning and I will tell everyone I know how amazing the food and vibes were here. Blessings to you and your son who you make “young people food” for.

This is a really good Jamaican restaurant. There aren’t that many that have a nice atmosphere inside for dining in. The food is good quality and the service is excellent. They really give you that personal touch. The fair is mostly standard Jamaican but the prices are good and the quality is good as well.

The oxtail was honestly very good I have no complaints on that. The rice and cabbage however were very bland and didn’t have much flavor at all. The Rasta pasta was extremely salty to the point I couldn’t even eat more than 2 bites. Only thing I can really voice for was their ox tails. 100% not worth the price unfortunately.
