When we arrived, it seemed the restaurant was short-staffed. Despite several empty tables, no one was being seated. We were told the wait would be about 15 minutes, but we ended up waiting a full 30 minutes. The hostess—who also seemed to be acting as a waitress—was not personable and appeared to be in a bad mood. Right from the start, the service felt off, but we decided to stay since we had already paid $15 for parking. In hindsight, we should have gone to The Monica across the way.
While multiple parties were still waiting, a couple walked in and the same hostess immediately greeted them and seated them ahead of everyone else.
Once we were finally seated, we ordered drinks, which took several minutes to arrive. The server eventually came back to take our food order, and we waited another 20 minutes for the meals to come out—warm, not hot. It felt like the plates had been sitting for a bit before being served.
I ordered the Chilaquiles, and my wife had the Tamale Pie. Maybe we should have picked something else, but the Mexican dishes definitely didn’t compare to the quality of Tucson’s usual Mexican food. The food was okay, but nothing memorable, and I honestly don’t understand how this place has such high ratings.
Overall, I’d recommend trying another spot—Tucson has plenty of great restaurants, and unfortunately, The Nook just isn’t one of them.
We added a side salad and a side of blueberry pancakes, and both were outstanding. The salad was crisp and fresh, while the pancakes were light-as-a-feather fluffy with just the right balance of blueberries in every bite.
The restaurant itself is cute and inviting, a great brunch spot in Tucson. The only miss for us was the coffee, which was on the weak side.
Overall, Nook delivers robust flavors, freshness, and attention to detail in every dish. We’ll definitely be back!
Nice inside seating and nice outside seating !
Love it!

Friendly service.
It’s a scratch kitchen, so the food takes a little time.
We enjoyed the burger and tamale cakes. Both were delicious and well served.
Make sure to order the scones!
The Godfather Benedict was excellent, with a side of Smashed Hash. The Hanger Steak and Eggs was perfectly seasoned and cooked, simply delicious. We got crumpets on the side and the homemade jam made for a delightful breakfast accompaniment.
The Coffee drinks were excellent, a latte and a matcha.
Highly recommend for a breakfast or brunch if you are in downtown Tucson.
