I was very surprised with this place. Looks run down a bit inside and out but it gives it charm plus I’m thinking during this pandemic who’s got money to sink into anything that doesn’t immediately need to be fixed. Was getting busy as I arrived. Seems like everyone knows each other. Very friendly place. The prices are very reasonable. Baked clams seemed a bit freezer burn. Got past it. Had the veal. Very large amount. Very tasty. The salmon was a nice piece as well. Place just reopened after closing down for pandemic. Only open on Friday and Saturday nights for now. I am definitely going to be going back for the food and the friendly Cheers vibe.

This is an overlooked gem. It has been here for years with a great menu and great prices. We were actually heading to somewhere else and my husband said “let’s go into the Nook” and was I glad we did. It has always been warm and inviting, the staff has always been very helpful and they have one of those menus where many things catch your eye. We’ll be back soon. Thank you again for a great dinner.

I can only say, that “The Nook” is one of Wantaghs best kept secrets.
It’s a hidden treasure right at the foot of the Wantagh parkway.
We went in The Nook with our family, and couldn’t be happier. The atmosphere is nothing shy of old world charm. If you are looking for a quaint and quiet atmosphere this is your place.!
The restaurant was clean beyond words. The staff was exceptional and very attentive to our every need. Nothing was a problem and everything we asked for was accommodated.
The food was excellent and the portions were more then generous. The owner Tom, is so welcoming and truly most gracious. We have been back a few times since and the atmosphere and service remains consistent!
How refreshing, to see a family owned restaurant, keep such nice standards and have such a nice menu to choose from.
When you leave, you almost have a feeling of being at moms for dinner. It’s Very family oriented, and very inviting. We certainly will return.
Btw- you must indulge in their bread that they set upon the table as soon as you’re seated. It is so fresh and warm and truly delicious !!!.

What a quaint and lovely restaurant. The food was great and Meg, our waitress was wonderful. Really, what an absolutely happy and positive, beautiful person. Even if the food was bad ( which it wasn’t) I’d give 5 stars for her alone.
I had the chicken francais, which was superb and the appetizers were good. Oh, and the bread was to die for! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

On a recent Saturday night, after passing up The Nook for several years, I ventured in on a Saturday night. Notice to first-timers – don’t let the dark entrance way scare you off. Second notice – don’t let the 1960-ish decor scare you off either. In fact, the only feedback that isn’t positive is associated with the decor. Somewhat dimly lit, dark wood, colonial style lamp fixtures and real ivy plants hanging from baskets in the ceiling that are in desperate need of water and replanting. However, the food, drinks and service were very good. I believe the owner greeted us as we entered and we were seated immediately. The bar, which is in front and slightly to the left of the entrance, was full, with what appeared to be ‘regulars’ from the conversation. Our server was friendly and attentive. My partner ordered steak which was perfectly seasoned. Ordered ‘medium rare’ and it arrived exactly as ordered. I ordered a chicken dijonaise which was tasty. Be aware that all entrees, unless noted in the menu, come only with steamed broccoli and carrots, and a roasted potato. The vegetables were fresh but it would be nice to have more options, such as mashed potatoes. The Nook offers a dining experience with a unique vibe and unlike any of the newer ‘in’ establishments in the surrounding area. Food is well prepared, reasonably priced with friendly, efficient service.

Ordered take out from the place since I was craving French cuisine but did not want to sit down and eat at a further away location or pay the price usually associated it. I’ve driven past The Nook before and figured it was either a small wedding venue, cigar lounge or steakhouse.. It really can disguise itself. The takeout bill was reasonable, the food was deffinitely quality for the price, and I was surprised that they had John Wayne movies on the television… Set up perfectly for a date night spot if interested due to the lighting.. Place had groups dining and enjoying themselves as well. The bartender and server there were both nice good gents. The french onion soup was good, so were the sandwhiches we got… The Escargot was not what I am use to as they arent breaded and are straight snails in the traditional seasoning and sauce… Was the only gripe i had was the Escargot was not to my liking but could be to others….
