The restaurant is simple and spacious, and we had plenty of room for our mobility devices without feeling in the way, which we really appreciated.
We ordered the salty lemonade, strawberry shake with boba, rice cake appetizer, meatball pho, and combination fried rice. With tip, the total came to about $80 for two people.
Overall, the food was good, though the pho left a bit to be desired. There was a slight sweetness or something missing from the broth, and the noodles absorbed a lot of liquid in the leftovers. It wasn’t the best pho I’ve had, but not the worst — the search for the best pho in the Triangle continues. My husband loved the fried rice and finished it entirely.
The menu is extensive, so I’ll try something different next time. We’ll likely return since it’s close to our apartment and there’s plenty more to explore on the menu.
— Was pretty empty when we got there – over half of seating was empty (this will be important later on)
— Took 45 minutes to get our food after asking multiple times (I actually to get up and ask since the staff was not attentive)
— Had to get up to ask for water 2x as well because again they weren’t attentive at all after I raised my hand – also we had to ask 2x because after the first time I asked for water they literally didn’t bring it after we waited for like 10 minutes
— I finally asked them for snacks or something to munch on (the guy said oh we ran out of snacks we usually give out on special occasions) – obviously I didn’t come here to finesse free snacks out of them – everyone in the restaurant was visibly hungry / irritated so like if you’re a smart business you’d try to offer something to at least show like you care
— They said “oh it’s really busy” when I asked at least for a time estimate on when we would get our food … remember how I said it was half empty when I first got there? How do you work there and not be able to give a reasonable estimate on how long food will take? At the very least you should let your customers know before they sit down because we can definitely take our business elsewhere – nothing personal but if I know ahead of time it’s a 45+ min wait I’ll literally drive to another Pho/Viet spot
— Man, even getting the check and closing out was like 5 minutes so we just went to and closed out
— Finally the food itself? Solid but not mind-blowing. They could probably be more generous with meat portions too but you know what if this restaurant cares about cost cutting or being cheap then that’s probably not gonna happen anytime soon
— I don’t necessarily blame the staff completely I think the place just needs more headcount in the front and back and probably better training so that the staff in the front has like EQ and knows when to check in on customers and all that
— I genuinely like to give people the benefit of the out and I am a glass half full kind of person … totally understandable if people are busy and coming out do the holidays and all that and maybe people aren’t on their A-game, but it’s really the communication that could completely change things … just being vague and avoidant is not the way you earn happy and loyal customers
Tonight we came in a table of 6 people.
Food quite delicious for Broken Rice & Vermicelli with pork grill. However, Hue Beef Noodle & Pho are moderate.
The time to wait for food was more than 30 mins.
The unpleasant thing I’d want to leave a review 1 stars as of 2 following reasons:
1/ Not transparent in billing.
– when the waitress came to give out the bill for us, how could she still tend to take the tips extra 20% up 20% included in the bill?
The total bill is around $100. Add up service tip 20% already total ~$120.
Then the final number is more than 145$?
Is it really a matter to a bill $100 to end up in almost $150?
I’d like to kindly ask the owner/manager should train the staff to be honest at asking tip as you already charge customers 20% extra into the bill (for a group of >5 ppl, I guess?)
2/ we’re annoyed as after paying the bill at around 8:45pm, while we’re sitting and talking at the table, a staff suddenly turned off the light.
Didn’t he mean to ask us to leave in such a rude manner?
I don’t think we will comeback to No.1 Pho after this unpleasant experience.
I hope the manager will have a thorough discussion/training for this matter will not happen again.
Thank you.
The service was slow, inattentive, and completely unprofessional. No urgency, no explanation, no apology.
To make it worse, they added a mandatory gratuity at checkout despite the terrible service. Forcing a tip after providing this level of service is unacceptable.
Extremely disappointing. Never coming back.
From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm, polite service. The staff is genuinely kind and makes you feel welcome without being overbearing. The space is clean and straightforward; clearly well cared for. It’s the kind of place where the focus is on the food, and it shows.
The menu is broad and authentic, offering all the Vietnamese staples you’d hope for, each one prepared with attention to flavor. The pho stands out. The broth is rich, deep, and full of layered complexity. It hits that rare, perfect balance of savory, sweet, and aromatic flavors. It’s the kind of comforting bowl that satisfies even on a hot summer day. The noodles are the perfect consistency, the herbs are fresh and bright, and the meats are cooked just right.
I had a decent banh mi here; freshly made with crisp vegetables that added a nice, vibrant crunch. The overall combination worked well and was satisfying. However, it leaned a bit too sweet for my taste, and I was missing that savory depth you usually get from a good smear of pâté. Still, it’s a solid option if you’re in the area and craving a sandwich with fresh ingredients, even if it doesn’t fully capture that classic Vietnamese flavor profile.
The food came out fast and piping hot, and the service stayed friendly and attentive throughout. Prices are fair and portions are fair, and the overall experience feels like discovering a well-kept local secret.
If you appreciate Vietnamese food served with care and without unnecessary flash, this place is absolutely worth your time.
