Service was spot on excellent. The rib gumbo was so delicious that I wish I had ordered the large serving. The German bologna sandwich was a perfect side to the gumbo. The special of smoked meatloaf was okay but not as good as the pulled pork.

Had a great lunch here today. The food was delicious. The service was great. Our server kept up with refills and brought our food out quickly. This restaurant is located in a rural in a beautifully well preserved historic building. It is tastefully decorated and exudes historic charm in many details. It is worth the drive to enjoy some slower paced great food in an awesome country setting.

The wait staff were very friendly & attentive. She checked on us several times while we were dining. We loved the onion rings, wings, macaroni & cheese, the ribs & the tavern potato. Although we did not get any, they have very large glasses of beer & wine.

Nisbet Inn came highly recommended by a family member who had been there before. We made reservations at noon for a party of six as it was the Saturday before Mother’s Day. We arrived on time and was greeted upon arrival. Our drink order was taken within 10 minutes of being seated. We ordered iced teas and water. We did not receive our drinks until the server came back to take our orders. She apologized stating she forgot our drinks. It was an additional 15 minutes after the server came before we received our drinks. The menu offered a good selection of appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, sides, full meals, daily specials, and desserts. There is a bar so alcoholic beverages are available. Some in our party ordered the special which was pork steak with two sides and beer bread. Others in our party ordered the smoked chicken with two sides and beer bread. After placing our order, it was almost an hour before we received our food. While the food quality was good however it was cold. The serving sizes of meat and sides were generous. The pork steak had a good flavor however was hard to cut and a little tough. Others in our party said the chicken was good but not as good as it had been in a previous visit. Some in our party ordered dessert and said the desserts were really good. After being served our food, no one came back to ask how our food was or if we needed anything. The restaurant was fairly busy however there were plenty of open tables when we arrived. While our server was friendly and helpful, the overall service left a lot to be desired. The server appeared to be the only server covering the entire restaurant. We observed other parties waiting for 20 minutes to put in a drink order. The staff told guests to seat themselves however this resulted in some tables being waited on and others being forgotten. The building itself is an interesting piece of history and the inside was decorated with lots of neat and historic memorabilia. Lots of interesting conversation pieces to talk about while waiting. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. We were really looking forward to a great meal with family however the majority of us were dissatisfied and wished we had not driven 45 minutes each way for such a subpar experience. I was told the restaurant recently changed owners so maybe they are still in transition or maybe they were short staffed the day we were there. I wish them the best however I won’t be returning.

Wonderful daily specials and always cold beer. Try something on their rotation taps. Much better flavors than their domestic…. The rib gumbo is smokey and delicious. Try it out. It will surprise you.

This place is the definition of middle of nowhere. The food here is great and the staff is friendly and helpful. All our food came out fresh and hot. We had fried pickles that were really good and the BBQ that my wife had good flavor and my burger was huge, I would recommend this place to anyone.

I ate there at 6:00 on a Saturday and boy was it packed. It took a minute to get my order taken but that’s understandable. Food came quickly once ordered. I got the rib gumbo. Excellent. I also tried the potato spear appetizer. It was also excellent. For my entree I got the Nisbet Platter. It came with ribs, smoked chicken, and a slice of pit pork butt. You get 2 sides plus rye bread and a pickle spear. Everything was very good. I love their bbq sauce. 4 stars only because of the wait. Food is 5 stars. Great BBQ!

I’m not sure if they have the coldest beer as they claim, but the service is excellent and the food is very good. They have many choices of smoked meats and fish. Side dishes are tasty. The restaurant has a storied history and a special country charm. This old inn has been nicely restored and maintained. Reservations might be needed during peak hours if you want to have a seat near the windows or in a preferred location. Parking is rather limited near the building but a little walk is not a problem. We enjoyed our visits here.

The Nisbet Inn is incredible! Food and atmosphere were top notch. It has a rich history that it proudly wears. For a restaurant that’s off on its own, it’s a true gem and worth your time to visit. The food was amazing and the portions are generous!

Food delicious and service. It was very busy when we were there . Full house so slow getting food out,but we’ll worth the wait. I had the pulled pork on a huge baked potato. Delicious. Pork full of flavor and tender. One person in our group had the ribs and went to town polishing them off, stating how tender and flavorful they were.
