Where do I start!! Front the time you walk in the door you know you are in the right place!! The staff is great, the atmosphere is great. And God the food smells so good. We got the buffet and let me tell you this place is a sin!!! The food taste like an angel came down from heaven and touched every bit!! I can’t find not one thing on this bar that wasn’t good!! Normally I am the one that picks apart every little detail when it come to food BUT this place got me!! NOT one item that wasn’t cooked to perfection!! So, if you are in the area and want some REAL SOUL FOOD!! Not some wanna be soul food but that really stuff that leaves you begging for more! Stop on by Nippy’s Soul Food Restaurant and let the taste of heaven fill your soul!!

Enjoyed Sunday dinner with friends. I loved the oxtails with rice and fried chicken is made to order. Great atmosphere and friendly staff that makes sure you are completely satisfied. Highly recommend to friends, family, and anyone that wants a great authentic southern meal and experience. Will come back again!

Employees were very friendly. They encouraged buffet; We see why…they wanted to get rid of it. The food did not taste fresh and everything was salty. Soul food does not need to be salty. Shrimp, fish and chicken overcooked and tasted like it had been there a while. The mac n cheese was straight out of a box with fake cheese. The best part of my meal with the tea and cake. Disappointing.

Let me start by saying my husband never saw a buffet he didn’t like. The food has good taste. The building could use some attention you kinda stick to the floor. For lunch, a buffet of $18.99 is expensive for the number of selections. I thought quality was equal to Golden Corral. The staff are super nice. But at lunch timr there were only 3 tables of people there.

So good! I came here with my partner and his friend because we wanted barbecue, but didn’t want to travel far. Granted we didn’t get barbecue, but we did get some of the best soul food I’ve ever had. waitstaff was so kind and there was a party happening in the other room, which sounded like a blast. We will definitely be back.

WE WALKED OUT! We don’t recommend this restaurant. Nippy’s Soul Food has horrendous customer service. This was our 1st time here, we were so excited bc of the google map reviews but were beyond saddened to be greeted the way we were. The Greeter didn’t say hello, she asked, “dine or take out?” We replied, “dine in.” She didn’t walk us to a table, she stopped at the cash register which is located at the front entrance. And asked, “what drinks?” We were confused. Why aren’t you seating us? Why ae you taking our drink orders, while we are standing at the entrance, We thought this to ourselves. Then she asked for our order, pointed to a hand written menu on a white board to the left of the register. (How sad! This place didn’t offer us a proper menu.) We told her it was our 1st visit. She just stood there & said that’s fine. Instead of taking a hint, moving from in front of this awkward placed board & give us time to decide. This was just a pitiful experience & we didn’t need to stay for the food to know that this wasn’t going to turn around to be a better one. So we thanked & said goodbye. We walked out & won’t be returning.

Just left this wonderful place with delicious food. Going inside I saw the sign about feeding the homeless twice a month. That is an amazing blessing for the community. My party and I loved the atmosphere and the staff were awesome. This was my first trip to Wilmington, but I will definitely stop in here my next visit.

My first visit and surely will be my last! Had the lunch buffet, the only thing that had great flavor was the flat pieces of the wing, drum part very dry, the trotters (pig feet) was very tasty and the string beans (canned) but jazzed up, were good just a tad bit salty. The mac and cheese and mashed potatoes are straight from a box and sweet potatoes and collards straight from a can and the rice was horrible, who gets that wrong! The hamburger steak was over cooked, could barely chew it! The dessert was some kind of hot chocolate pudding, it tasted as if it had dish soap in it was just terrible! The young lady that rang me up was very pleasant! Not soul food at all, the food did have soulful smell but I was fooled!

Great place to eat. Was looking for a lunch spot and saw the reviews on Google. I was not disappointed. Enjoyed the buffet which had a ton of choices. You know it’s an honest-to-goodness soul food restaurant when they’ve got pig feet on the buffet. Make sure to try the Tiger Woods (an Arnold Palmer made with pink lemonade). Can’t wait to come back and try the famous chicken and rice.
