LA’s Best Lobster & King Crab Buffet! The Ultimate Seafood & A5 …

Reviews
If you think you’ve had good wagyu before… think again. NICU X in Downtown LA just reset the bar for what real A5 all-you-can-eat should look, feel, and taste like — and the two absolute legends running the show, Kevin and Joe, are the reason this place is on another level.
From the second I walked in, Kevin and Joe treated me like family — and not the “hi, how many in your party?” type of family… I mean the “sit down, relax, we’re about to take you on the best meat experience of your life” kind of family. These guys know hospitality the way chefs know fire.
THE EXPERIENCE:
Perfectly marbled A5 Wagyu that melts the moment it touches the grill. Cuts so beautiful you almost feel bad eating them (almost). Every round came out flawless — tender, rich, buttery, and cooked exactly how wagyu dreams are supposed to taste.
THE SERVICE:
Kevin and Joe are straight-up pros. Friendly, attentive, hilarious, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They made the whole meal feel like a VIP tasting and somehow kept the vibe fun, relaxed, and unforgettable. Zero ego, all passion and flavor.
️ THE FOOD:
Delicious doesn’t even scratch the surface. Every bite was next-level. It’s rare you find AYCE where the quality stays top-tier from start to finish, but NICU X delivers. This is wagyu done right.
If you’re anywhere near Downtown LA and want a dining experience that hits harder than a Big Mouth Foam Cannon on full blast, NICU X is the spot — and Kevin and Joe are the reason you’ll be back.
HIGHLY recommend. 11/10. Would eat here again tomorrow. And the day after.
Let’s start with the service. Our server was a cool homie and so was everyone else. I was noticed immediately for my dodgers gear I had on. Go Dodgers! Everyone liked that.
As food the food. I had nearly 1 of everything at the buffet, same for my mom who dined with me. Most notable was the delicious sea food. We ordered about 5 sides, loved the Oxtail potstickers and the exclusive lobsters. Every single wahyu dish was up to par. I cooked them each either 30 seconds to 1 min 30 for an a delicious butter melting medium rare taste. The grills were excellent here, never had any issues!
There is a huge selection of sake and soju. All ranging from cheap to fancy. I had 1 glass of cloudy sake & 3 of the beers they had available. Im very familiar with Japanese craft beers so I was able to find 1 unique beer I’ve never had here. That’s always a plus to me. Thanks for having me for my birthday!
When we got in we met the host and clarified our reservation. They tried to seat us at a shared table and we ended up asking for a booth. We ended up waiting another 20 minutes.
The servers were busy so the manager of the restaurant ended up chatting with us about the history of the company and where they source the beef from.
Throughout the dinner they replated us multiple times and also replaced our grill 4x throughout the time.
I chatted with some of the staff and we found out that today on Xmas the venue was about 50 percent more busy than a normal night. It looked like the staff were very highly trained and often communicated with each other for even smaller things like keeping drinks topped off. Originally I was planning on giving the venue a lower score but the manager and staff salvaged it to a 5.
The selection of beef was very good. There was plenty of king crab, a butter station, and a peking duck station.
The place has a beautiful ambience—clean, classy, and perfect for a nice night out.
They offer valet parking and validate for 2.5 hours, but since we had three cars, we still ended up paying almost $100 extra after the free hours. For just over an hour of staying—dining, picture-taking, and exploring the hotel—it felt a bit pricey just for parking.
When it comes to the food, they have two options: $109 per person and $149 per person.
The $109 already includes unlimited lobster, seafood, beef, sushi, sashimi, and more from the buffet.
The $149 option is marketed as the “premium experience,” with unlimited Japanese A5 Wagyu and a few other special dishes.
We decided to go for the $149 option for the experience.
The unlimited Wagyu sounds great, but to be honest, it was underwhelming.
If you’ve had authentic Japanese A5 Wagyu before, you’d know the taste and quality are usually outstanding even without seasoning.
But here, it just didn’t have that same melt-in-your-mouth flavor.
For me, it felt overpriced and not really worth the hype.
Meanwhile, the “special seafood” at $149—like king crab legs, shrimp with caviar, and a few other items—are only served once, not unlimited.
The best part of the evening was actually the ambience and the service.
Our server Naomi was amazing—friendly, attentive, and she explained everything so clearly.
She really made my birthday celebration special.
Overall, if you’re a seafood lover, I’d say just go with the $109 option.
You already get plenty—lobster, shrimp, sushi, sashimi, and more—without spending extra on Wagyu that doesn’t really stand out.
The $149 feels too expensive for what it offers. The place is definitely beautiful, the service is excellent, but next time I’d probably just stick with the $109—or maybe try another spot.
9-29-2025 Dinner for 6
Despite the The food is excellent—premium Wagyu like Toriyama and delicious crab—and the staff is kind, Unfortunately, the overall experience doesn’t justify the price.
The ambience is too crowded, with dirty floors and utensils, and buffet trays often sit empty too long. I’ve ordered a bottle of water and then the staff refilled my glass with water from the jar without noticing that I have a bottle , and the serrated knives provided aren’t fit for cutting fine Wagyu. For $250, you can enjoy a far better dinner in a refined setting. I honestly don’t understand why this place was so full.
