It was absolute delight to have been introduced to Georgian food. The place is cozy, the staff are all nice and friendly. Oksana was our waitress and she was lovely. The food was great: our Ukrainian friends ordered for us family style and we all enjoyed the selection. We had eggplant rolls with ground walnuts, soup dumplings, mushrooms with cheese, and a large boat shaped bread with cheese and egg on top which was creamy and delicious. We also had their kebabs which were very nicely seasoned and cooked. The wine we ordered was also very tasty. We were full but had to taste their dessert: made of grape juice and flour. I highly recommend this restaurant; and we will surely be back.

This is genuinely a nice place to visit if you want to try Georgian cuisine. The interior is beautiful, with a pleasant ethnic style, and the atmosphere feels warm and inviting. The service was good overall, although there was a small mix-up with our order at the beginning. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Almost everything we tried was very tasty fresh, well-prepared food that we enjoyed and finished with pleasure. Unfortunately, the one exception was the khachapuri. We didn’t like it at all: neither the dough nor the cheese. The cheese tasted very cheap, and the dough was dry and not flavorful. I’ve had khachapuri in other places before, and it was noticeably better there.

Aside from that, all the other dishes we tried were delicious, so the food experience overall was positive. The check is above average, and if you come as a group, they automatically add a service charge to the bill, which is something to keep in mind.

Overall, it’s a good place to visit at least once to get familiar with Georgian cuisine.

We were in Tbilisi Georgia last year. The food at this restaurant is on par with the best restaurants there. Our party of 8 people loved everything we had. The wine was fantastic. The food delicious. Hatchupuri was the best I have ever had. Overall amazing experience. Who would have thought that in Austin Texas you can find such delicious food.

My son took me here to try something new. Georgian food….WOW!
We had a fantastic meal. The service was great and our waiter explained everything to us. This was “comfort food from another mother” good! The bread is incredible and we ordered extra just to sop up the chicken sauce. The mushrooms were perfectly done. So good! The bread with cheese, butter and egg in the middle is off the chart! I can’t wait to go back and take my family.
I would highly recommend Nikala if you want to try something new and different. You won’t be disappointed!

This was our first time trying Georgian food, and everything was absolutely delicious.
The khinkali were juicy and flavorful, the khachapuri was rich and comforting, and the BBQ was perfectly grilled with great smoky flavor.
The food felt authentic, hearty, and well balanced, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming.
The staff were also very friendly and helpful, especially for first-time visitors.
We truly enjoyed the experience and would love to come back to try more dishes.
Highly recommend for anyone who wants to try Georgian cuisine for the first time!

Nikala has been open just over 2 months, and I thoroughly enjoyed trying traditional Georgian cuisine from the beautiful Eastern European country. The staff and owner/chef are all from Georgia so they bring the authentic delicious flavors! Special thanks to Niko and George for answering all my questions. I look forward to returning and trying other things! We started with the Adjaruli with cheese and egg (the boat-shaped bread) which was very filling and so good. We also ordered the Elarji balls which were the least impressive of the dishes we had but I think that also speaks to the wonderful main courses, the beef Mtsvadi (Georgian meat skewer. The smokiness and flavor of the marinade was incredible. This was my favorite dish! Next time I want to try the Khinkali (dumplings) and the famous honey cakes. Nikala also has Georgian beer, wine, and sodas. We got the tarragon and barberry sodas which have unique flavors (the tarragon is better). Thanks Nikala for the excellent meal!!

Today we visited Nikala for the first time, and it instantly took first place in my personal ranking of local restaurants.

The moment I walked in and saw the tablecloths on the tables, I already felt my first wave of delight. Then came the warm welcome, the way we were seated, and the thoughtful introduction to the menu — and my admiration kept growing.

But when the khinkali arrived… that was it. Straight to the heart. It felt like Georgia.

The khachapuri, шашлыки, rolls, bread — everything was absolutely delicious, beautifully made, and tasted so clean and authentic.

And the service was truly exceptional. You can immediately feel that the people who work there genuinely love this place — not a trace of anything fake. One young man spoke to us about the wine with such knowledge, care, and respect. A young woman told us about the food, the ingredients, the ovens, the paintings, the meaning behind the restaurant’s name, and so much more. It was all done with such warmth and sincerity.

At the same time, the service was incredibly delicate and natural. We were never interrupted unnecessarily, plates disappeared almost invisibly, and it felt like they noticed even a glance when it was time to refresh our drinks.

Everything in this place feels so organic, thoughtful, and full of heart that from the very first visit, it became my favorite restaurant in the area.

I will absolutely be back — and I will be bringing friends.

Hands down the BEST Georgian food in all of Texas!!! Everything was incredibly delicious, especially the khinkali, lula kebab, and eggplant rolls — truly outstanding flavors! The service was amazing, the staff was so welcoming, and the atmosphere was fantastic. I can’t recommend this place enough — everyone NEEDS to try this food, you will love it! We are 100% coming back again, even if it means driving all the way from San Antonio. Totally worth it!!!

This is a true Georgian restaurant owned by Georgian family. The menu is perfect, my favorite eggplant rolls were wonderful and khinkhalis were also great. Of course, kids enjoyed Tarragon drinks and Khachapuri. Great atmosphere and wonderful food. Good to come with kids or friends to watch soccer game or just enjoy a selection of wines. Their cakes are big and tasty. We had a lot of fun! I recommend making reservations since this is already a busy place.
