This has become my go-to spot. The fish is always pristine and high-quality, but what really sets them apart is the service—the staff is consistently friendly and attentive. Watching the professional chefs at work is a highlight. 5 stars!

Nigiri Ya is a regular for our family. The fish is excellent, tonkatsu (pork) and the sauce is a favourite. I recommend the butter fish, it is delicious! Good value, fresh fish, and informal dine-in atmosphere.

Did a delivery order and seems they don’t quite understand the phone order. Got food delivered on time but unfortunately forgot our sauce. But they did make another delivery very soon. Raw fish tastes very fresh. And love the torch pressed sushi. Combo came with a side salad and a soup. Price is over average.

We had lunch and all rolls on our first visit, overall the taste was quite good, rice seasoned nice and fish seemed fresh.

Lots of good value combo’s at lunch time.

Couple of things come to mind; rolls were a bit loose and rice was a bit thick, also it was weird that tonkatsu sauce was used as a drizzle on their rolls vs a sweeter base.

I give them 7.5/10!

Such a fabulous spot, especially for those with dietary restrictions! My family have various allergies/intolerance (gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant, and sesame allergy) and the staff was super accommodating (easily made substitutions, offered gluten free soy sauce, gluten free spicy mayo, salad dressing on the side, knew exactly what foods had gluten). They didn’t make us feel like an inconvenience and the food was delicious and very fresh. Service was amazing and the price was very affordable for what you get. You can tell that everything has been made with care. Can’t wait to go back again

Had Sunday lunch. Tried variety of food (bara-don, sushi, gyoza, karaage). Food is ok/decent & a bit on the expensive side. Not big fan of gyozas which were deep fried. Karaage was not very moist probably because pieces are small. Rest was ok/good. Ended up.$62 before tip.

Absolutely love Nigiri-Ya. Staff are very attentive. They’ve remembered our order from the third time we visited. They know exactly what we want. We feel terrible that we are always coming in late at 8pm but the staff are very nice about it and have never rushed us. The food is amazing and delicious. This place has quickly become our new favourite.

Ordered takeout, nice service and good impression at first. But majority of the sashimi has a smell, NOT FRESH, especially the octopus. Had to throw more than half of them and buy somewhere else for my dinner tonight. To be honest, very disappointed for the quality.

Finally found a Japanese restaurant not putting avocado into their rolls – which is a real Japanese flavor! That’s perfect!!!

Fishes are fresh and the tempura taste fantastic.

Nice place that deserves recommendations

Amazing Japanese gem in Newmarket !
One of the best in the area. Staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The Hot Sizzling Rice Bowl was the real star! Served warm and beautifully arranged. It’s the next level comfort food for me. If you haven’t tried one of their hot sizzling rice bowls, you are definitely missing out!
If you’re in Newmarket and craving quality japanese food, Nigiri Ya is worth the visit!
