They have drive thru and dine-in service. Usually a lot of energetic teenagers running the store. Great 50’s diner vibe. The custard concrete is thick and delicious. The drive through pick up parking spaces are a little hectic but provided a beautiful view of the valley .
They have lots of flavors and it’s worth an have treat.

I went here tonight to treat myself and my dog. I tried the walk up window and waited at least 5 minutes until anyone acknowledged me, to the point I questioned if they were even taking orders there. The manager was literally on the computer facing me and didn’t acknowledge me, I was making eye contact with them through the window. When someone finally acknowledged me, I ordered and asked for a pup cup and they looked at me like I was insane and had no idea what I was talking about. I mentioned that the other Nielsens I’ve been too have all had pup cups. I asked if I could get a small sample bc she doesn’t need an entire cup but the only option was a $3 scoop. My sundae barely had any ice cream in it and was basically just a cup of fudge and caramel. The toppings weren’t very good either, and I regret not asking them to redo it because I ultimately threw most of it away. Good thing I paid for an entire cup of ice cream for my dog so I could use some for mine. The group who came a couple minutes after me were served right away. It probably isn’t worth complaining as the manager was part of the problem.

It was my first time trying custard and I loved it. I also investigated a little and found out this is made with a further developed machine to do frozen custard, which is based on the lowest amount of air inyected. As I said it very recommendable, as their burguesa are as well. I’ve only put four stars because is true the ambient it could be improved having the frosting machines away from the public (I think it is what produces the noise) and on the other hand I loved the jazz music, it sounded very old fashion. Food and service great! 29 dollars for two people.

A little noisy inside but at least I dont work there. It is homemade custard and the same technology they have used for many years. Totally delicious custard. Creamy and tasty.

Food was fantastic. I believe I had an Oreo and cookies and cream shake and it’s easily the best shake I’ve ever had. Service was really great as well. Only things that may be brought up an eyebrow was how loud it was because of what I’m assuming was the ice cream machines. Crazy loud! The menu fell overwhelming and glad this service folks were there. To help clarify, but overall would recommend this place. It’s a popular place get there before 5:00

I would think when you order a chocolate concrete, they would make you chocolate…is it just me, or am I crazy?
I ordered a chocolate concrete with caramel. When they handed it to me, it was melted and looked a little light to be chocolate. One scoop and it was obvious it was vanilla with chocolate syrup in it, especially since it wasn’t mixed well and half of it was vanilla.
I went back to the counter and asked if they were out of chocolate custard? The lady running the place said that they make everything out of vanilla unless you specify you want chocolate. she then proceeded to scold me about “ordering correctly” because she’s now going to have to pay for that concrete…like I didn’t just pay $8+ for a damn ice cream that was not what I ordered.
I realize in today’s day and age customer service is a thing of the past, but here’s a couple suggestions from a fellow business owner: Maybe train your employees to ask a customer if they order chocolate if they really want chocolate . And when you or your employees mess up, just own it and make it right rather than make enemies over $1.50 worth of frozen custard.
It’s probably a good thing that your custard is the best around…probably the only way you survive treating customers like annoying little pests you’re forced to deal with.
Also a good thing there are a couple Nielsen’s much closer to my home so I can avoid the Bountiful location.

Love this place! It’s stayed the same ever since I was little. It’s not the cleanest place on the inside, and it’s pretty loud at all times, but it’s all part of the experience! Their custard is some of the best you’ll ever try, and they have good fries too. You’re guaranteed to love it.

We love Nielsen’s but for the 3rs time I made the mistake of buying a quart of Oreo. It is basically vanilla with a hint of Oreo. Come on Nielsen’s put some actual cookies in the Oreo. When I walked in with the Oreo instead of being greeted with cheers I got a disappointed “no! You know their Oreo is just vanilla” and it was!! The biggest disappointment is that I had also bought a quart of vanilla.

I’ve gone to Nelson’s my entire life. I grew up with the owners’ family — their kids, nieces, and nephews — and I’ve never experienced anything like this until recently. The last three times I’ve been in, the customer service has been terrible and the cleanliness has been unacceptable.
My card was handed back to me sticky and covered in food. The ice cream cups and spoons were smeared with toppings I didn’t order. It was honestly gross.
Tonight was the final straw. We ordered two concretes and were asked if we wanted a receipt — we said no. Then we were told to pull into a side parking spot. Fine. But while we waited, we watched two cars that were behind us get their orders. Then a third car behind us was handed their ice cream directly through the window.
After waiting over 25 minutes, I went inside to check on our order. The manager was called over, and they couldn’t even find it. He told me I could just reorder — and that it would cost $$$. I explained I had proof of payment, went back to my car, grabbed my phone, and showed the charge. Turns out only one ice cream had been punched in, even though we ordered two.
By this point, we had been waiting over 40 minutes and at least eight cars had gone through the drive-thru and received their food. The manager said he could “make the second one right now” for the inconvenience. I said yes and thanked him — and then he followed up with, “That’ll be $$$.”
I was honestly in disbelief and just walked out.
For a place as long-standing and well-known as Nelson’s, it’s shocking that they couldn’t comp a single ice cream after losing the order, making us wait that long, and clearly mishandling the situation. I would never lie or try to get a free ice cream — this was about basic accountability and customer service.
It’s mind-blowing how far this place has gone downhill.

I loved this place. I got an Oreo Concrete with some french fries. It was an excellent choice and I have been thinking about this place every hour since yesterday! I really liked how solid the concrete custard was and it was full of Oreo topping which is nice. It smelled a bit like pee inside which might have just been the cleaner they use, but overall a great dessert place. I will be going here again!
