Open & airy eatery serving Californian comfort fare like fried asparagus spears & blackened halibut.

This is a very busy place so either come early or later. Its busy for all the right reasons. Service is absolutely spectacular. Once you enter, all staff are very friendly. They offer a wide variety of meals, pretty much something for everyone. Portions are good sizes, and very well cooked. The place is on the smaller side, so does get crowded, and noisy. Other than that, everything is fantastic. Will definitely be returning.

This is a great restaurant. Their soups are amazing, as are their salads. We also had the blackened fish sandwich, which was mahi-mahi and less incredible. The local salad was great at the petite bistro was amazing. The server was amazing.

Nick’s Laguna Beach went above and beyond to make sister’s birthday lunch a very special one for her. When I made a reservation online at Open Table, I requested a nice table with a view for her milestone birthday.
The restaurant did read my request and set aside a nice table on the patio for my sister and I. Our server, Tony was very welcoming.
We had tuna tartare and salad to start. We split the San Francisco Cioppino for main. Without asking, Tony brought extra plates for us and split the Cioppino for us. All the food was delicious and fresh especially the Cioppino full of fresh seafood and the broth was flavorful.
We were too full for dessert. The restaurant brought my sister a rich and moist complementary chocolate cake with a candle to mark her special occasion.
We were so impressed with the attentive, generous and genuine hospitality of Nick’s Laguna Beach. Very few restaurants these days would have delivered this kind of service.
Thank you!

I had the Chilean Sea Bass and let me start by saying the fish was cooked to perfection. It was so soft and flaky and not dry in the slightest. The potatoes and spinach were good too, but nothing terribly special. The portion size was on the smaller side too. I don’t eat a lot, and even I could have eaten just a little more so I think most will be left wanting more. And the interior was nice but as others have mentioned it is small and gets loud. If this were purely a review of the quality of the food, I would give it 5 stars easily. But for those other factors I subtracted one star. Overall still a great experience!

Some places are good. Others are reliable. Nick’s is both, which is why it stands out in Laguna Beach.
The service is sharp, warm, and professional from start to finish. The menu is comfort driven but elevated, and the kitchen executes with confidence. The Fried Chicken and Gravy Mashed is legendary for a reason. Perfect crunch, rich gravy, creamy mashed potatoes, and zero restraint. There is never a bad time for Fried Chicken and Gravy Mashed, and this dish alone earns repeat visits.
Add in a great cocktail program, consistent quality, and a welcoming atmosphere, and Nick’s becomes a go to rather than a one off. If you are searching for one of the best restaurants in Laguna Beach that never misses, this is it.

I brought my niece here for her birthday lunch, thinking they would sing or give her something little for her birthday since that’s what we were celebrating. I even said we were celebrating her sweet 16! I had asked at the front desk and they told me they would do something little for her. And then I also told the waitress, but what she got was a card wishing her a happy birthday. Very disappointing. I would’ve taken her somewhere else that would’ve saying or given her a little something.
We got the clam chowder which she really liked. I thought it was good as well and it wasn’t overloaded with potatoes. You could see the calms so that was good.
We also got the shrimp Taquitos and tuna tare tare. The shrimp Taquitos were crunchy & good. Good size on the shrimps. The tuna tare tare was good but chip ratio was off but she did bring is a couple more which was nice.
It then took a little bit ringer our bill but it was good. But would probably try another restaurant next time.

Food was great, on top of friendly service and warm atmosphere, our bill came up to almost or over $100 with 2 main dish, 1 appetizer which was the deviled eggs (chefs kiss) and 2 drinks. Pretty good restaurant for a casual/fine dining date too. It’s by a busy street although there’s parking structure 5 mins walk to the restaurant. Overall beautiful experience

My friend and I were doing a day trip to Laguna Beach, but we didn’t have a reservation at Nick’s. I had heard about it, so we decided to try our luck and check out the bar. We were able to find two seats next to each other after about ten minutes, and we were NOT disappointed by the food. It was all delicious. We got dirty martinis, the asparagus fries, the French dip, the kale and quinoa salad, and the butter cake. I would recommend every single thing we got. It was all cooked perfectly with delicious flavors. John and Diane took care of us, and they were both amazing too. It truly felt like old style customer service, which is so hard to come by. Im so glad this place lived up to its reputation! And get the potato salad as your side. Trust me.

Thank you so much to the Nick’s Laguna Beach team for making our first visit and birthday so special! We’re local to the area and always thought to stop in and it’s safe to say we will be coming back forever. Breakfast is amazing, we would recommend Omar’s Skillet for those that love savory. Coffee was always readily available, hot, and never “top off” neglected! Stephanie and our hostess were the absolute best!!! Come here for the great service, food, atmosphere. Parking is accessible at the garage behind.

You need reservations if you plan on visiting. I made reservations for dinner and was seated exactly on time. I had Spencer as my waiter and he was fantastic. For dinner I ordered the Chilean sea bass, and it was perfection!!!!! The peace of fish was beautiful and perfectly cooked, cut like butter. My mashed potatoes were good but a little bit cold, spinach was decent. For dessert, I got the warm butter cake and it was really good as well.
The interior was very different than expected. The place is very small and loud on the inside. I ended up sitting outside and it was extremely loud due to the street traffic plus the restaurant noise. I was able to tune it out but this is not the environment for quiet/intimate conversations. Overall absolutely love the food and would visit here again.
