This weekend was a food adventure for the record books, I would really consider it a whole experience. I have been following this restaurant on social media for quite a while and finally had an opportunity to make a reservation.

When we arrived, the bartender (John son-in-law of the owners) let us know there was only one order of bacon wrapped scallops left, we quickly asked if we could reserve that order, man am I glad we did, they were HUGE, the bacon was so tender you could cut it with a fork and the scallops were sweet and delicious.

We wanted to have a few drinks before our meal, so we we ordered Tito’s & Lemonade and Espresso Martini’s.

Well John, pulled out 2 lemons and started squeezing them into the glasses and made fresh squeezed lemonade for the drinks!!!!! Then the espresso martini was also made to order with real espresso and absolutely perfectly, not too sweet.

The special of the day was a Surf and Turf Extravaganza your choice of steak with jumbo shrimp, seared scallops, a lobster tail and snow crab clusters, which came with fresh made bread and Cesar salad.

The bread was covered in melted cheese and was crispy on the outside and nice and airy on the inside. The salad was well dressed not soggy and the dressing and croutons were definitely house made.

We tried the chicken vegetable soup, also homemade and delicious.

The steaks are all cut in house and cooked to order.

There was so much food with the entree’s!! It was enough for another 1-2 meals. The seafood was fresh and well prepared. The steak was perfectly seasoned the correct temperature and so tender.

We ordered some wings to go just to be sure we had a snack if we needed it later. They were huge wings and the homemade blue cheese dressing was so good, I’m glad we got extra.

A few things to note, there was not a price for the surf and turf special (its pricy but well worth it). They were short staffed so we were there for about 3 hours (not including the hour at the bar before our meal). The waitstaff checked on us to make sure we had drinks and apologized about the time in between courses, we were enjoying our conversation and drinks so it wasn’t a big deal. Another thing to note, parties of 4 or more the gratuity is included in the check. This is definitely a special occasion place if you’re going there for the Surf and Turf special, expect to pay around $150+/person. They do also have other offerings at lower price points and you can opt for a build you own surf and turf with less variety for menu prices.

The restaurant is about 45 minutes to an hour away from Schenectady, it is family owned and operated, it’s really cute inside, I would have preferred some more lighting in the dining room, but they do have lights on each table to help brighten it up a little.

15 stars!! Five for the food, Five for the staff and Five for our beautiful room!!
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary with a filet mignon/lobster tail dinner! Amazing! Steak was delicious and done to perfection!
It’s a family run business and everyone on staff was checking on us to make sure we were happy – and we were!
We headed up to our room, which was thoughtfully decorated for our anniversary!
And in the morning, we were treated to a lovely continental breakfast.
We will most definitely be visiting again!!

We went to Nick Stoner’s for our anniversary, and it exceeded our expectations. The service, the decor, and especially the food were simply outstanding! I travel a lot all, both domestically and internationally, and I can honestly say this was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. My husband and I both ordered different surf and turf dishes, and both the steak and the seafood (for both of us) were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The portions are huge, my meal will feed me three times, and my husband twice. This place is definitely worth the trip!

I had work in town which is how I found the place while searching for lodging. The room was perfect. Comfortable bed. The owners are very friendly and generous. I ate at the restaurant one of the nights. The food was awesome ( I got the veggie past dish). I’ll be back!

I’ve been looking forward to dining here for some time. Last minute trip for the kid and buddy at Wheelerville so this was perfect timing.

I’m sure people will trash my review, but here it is. I should’ve read reviews on Trip Advisor and not just the great pics on their Facebook page.

Called at 3:08 Friday 9/5 and said they couldn’t do a 5:30 for same night but they could do a 4:30. We said we could be there at 4:45 due to travel and they said OK, we arrived at 4:56.

A couple people at the bar. Got looks from a few girls that worked there. Finally was asked if we had a reservation and seated.

Water (with melted ice) was waiting at the table. Seven minutes later our waitress came and asked us if we wanted drinks. Ordered a draft ale for me and wife stuck with water.

Waitress returns to tell me the keg is empty. Stuff happens. Ordered the goto, Fiddlehead IPA. Somewhat flat and warmer than most drafts I have had elsewhere.

She dropped off the drinks and finally returned 12 minutes later to ask if we wanted to order apps. I told her we wanted to order everything now (knowing the tempo/timing was going to be off).

Shrimp, crab, and corn chowder 0/10. I never send food back. This was so salty. Looked good, thick and chunky. But couldn’t get past the saltiness. Had my wife try it. She agreed too salty so I asked to return it and take off the bill.

Waitress brought it back to the table and said “they added something to make it less salty.” as she went to set it down it was sloshing all over, you could tell they watered it down. So basically they took half the nice chunky, thick seafood out, and she told me they added a bunch of heavy cream to cut the salt. It was still too salty. Told her to take it back and we were done with it.

Shared – Scallops with bacon. 8/10

Salad 8/10. Waiter told us salad is family style with balsamic house dressing. Nope. Definitely creamy Caesar. Was good though.

Me – special – Salmon stuffed with crab and shrimp (no prices listed) 1/10 and loaded baked potato 5/10. Stuffing was liquified mush. Salmon was slimy and soft inside. The part on the hot plate and outside was fine so I ate that. Left it all there. Mine was served and we waited another five minutes for my potato and my wife’s dish to finally arrive.

Wife – special – (no prices listed) Filet 5/10 with blackened shrimp (very salty) 2/10 and Alfredo sauce pasta 6/10.

Tempo: 2/10
Food: 2/10
Service: 4/10
IPA: 5/10

Worst. Meal. Ever.
$265 with tip and only one drink!
Never again. Now I read reviews on other pages and I could’ve saved the time and money.

And for anyone asking why I didn’t speak with the owner or manager, after sending my chowder back twice, wouldn’t you think they would have been informed and make a table side visit? They didn’t. Tells me all I need to know about how it is run.

I know the locals love it. They can keep it.

You need to have a reservation. Many people were being turned away. The restaurant is rustic with only 7 tables plus some high top tables and bar seats. The menu is very small but there was a good number of specials. The meal started with a loaf of hot garlic bread with cheese melted on top; it was excellent. Then the included family style salad was served. It was a mix of different very fresh greens, cucumber and tomato. The dressing was house made and was very good. My wife had the shrimp scampi which had 5 huge shrimp and a huge portion of pasta. The shrimp was excellent but the pasta was dry and needed more sauce. I had the signature dish which was a filet, cooked perfectly, with a small lobster tail, 3 shrimp and 3 scallops. I had roasted potatoes for my side. Everything was excellent. The price of the meal with 2 drinks and no dessert, including the 20% tip that was already added to the bill came to $250. We had a huge amount of very good food for that price.

If patience is a virtue, this restaurant might just make you a saint. They don’t take reservations, never answer their phone, and apparently treat Facebook comments like junk mail. We drove an hour and a half to get there — basically long enough to drive to another state and probably eat somewhere better. When we arrived, tumbleweeds could’ve rolled through the dining room because it was completely empty. Still, the waitress (who announced she was “too busy” because she was the only one) refused to seat us there, so we got stuck at the bar like forgotten extras in a bad reality show. The waiter had to be reminded three times to bring water — by the end, I was considering just bringing in my own bottle. Our dirty glasses stayed on the bar so long, I almost gave them names. The menu didn’t have many choices, which was perhaps a kindness, because making a decision here could take longer than their service. We were supposed to get two salads and two loaves of bread, but only got one of each — maybe the other portions are still in the kitchen waiting for approval. Despite that, the ribeye steak was impressively well seasoned and cooked just right — easily the highlight of the night. The New York strip, on the other hand, was fine… let’s just say it didn’t give Broadway energy. It took ages to get our bill and even longer to pay it. The entire experience lasted over three hours — basically the length of a blockbuster movie, minus the entertainment. In short: great ribeye, okay strip, and a whole lot of waiting. If you go, pack a snack, a good book, and maybe your own water.

Truly a hidden gem. This place has amazing food that will spoil every other place for you. My wife and I found our new go to restaurant. It was worth the drive. I had Rolotinni and it was delicious. My wife had Salmon and it was amazing. We also had fried clams as an appetizer. The salad was the best I ever had. Finally didn’t have to add more dressing! The fresh bread was so good we gobbled it all up. You can tell they take pride in their food quality. Don’t miss this place!

Hands down a culinary experience that you don’t want to miss! The steaks and seafood are out of this world! Fresh, great portions, perfectly seasoned, and they have a large selection of wines, beer, as well as tasty craft cocktails. The restaurant is family owned and operated and they are very nice hardworking people. I highly recommend dining there!
