I can’t support Nexxt Time Café after reading what happened to a young woman with a visible disability. According to witnesses, she sat down to eat, enjoyed herself, and then was publicly confronted, reduced to tears, and had her food thrown away over a $15–$20 meal. Even after it was clear she was a special-needs customer who had gotten lost, the owner allegedly kept escalating and showed no empathy.

As a community, we should expect compassion and basic human decency—especially toward people who can’t always advocate for themselves. This wasn’t just bad service, it was a total lack of care. Until this business learns how to treat all customers with respect, I’ll be spending my money elsewhere.

Our appreciation goes out to the owner of Next Time Cafe for hosting us yesterday. The establishment exudes a relaxed vibe, and the hospitality is absolutely top-notch. Check out our interview with the owner. Be sure to like and subscribe for more entrepreneurial news and content.

Owner was very abusive to a young disabled woman who had gotten lost from her mother! Screaming at her, took her food and THREW IT AWAY. Very poor establishment and management. 0/10 would avoid at all costs!

It was a great first experience at the Next Time Cafe. The only thing I didn’t like were the flies. The table I was at was near the front door and window. Other than that it was a great experience.

This was me and my sister’s first time eating here. The food was great the waitress was wonderful she took care of us very well. I got two catfish and fries with okra with a side of mac & Cheese. The only thing that I did not care for was the mac and cheese. It did not satisfy my taste buds. But everything else was immaculate. I even enjoyed the ice tea. Great place to go if you want to watch the games and enjoy a good meal.

When I receive good service, I always leave a great review, and when service is lacking, I leave an honest one. This experience isn’t necessarily bad, but I do think there were some missed opportunities.

I first heard about Next Time Cafe through RealSTL News and went for lunch. It was amazing—the shrimp were hot and juicy, the potato salad was great, and the fries were perfect. The service was excellent, too. That’s why I decided to take my wife for dinner tonight. We love supporting businesses in North County, especially Black-owned ones.

When we arrived, we were greeted and seated right away. The waitress took our drink order—just water for my wife and a soda for me—and then came back to take our food order. We ended up waiting about 40 to 50 minutes for our food, and during that time, no one came to check on us or offer a refill on our water.

When the food finally came, it was disappointing. The shrimp were overcooked, the fries were too, and my wife’s Philly was way too salty. Even though we didn’t enjoy the meal, we still wanted to support the business. The owner kindly offered to cover the meal, but we insisted on leaving a tip for the waitress.

My suggestion would be to have whoever cooked my lunch prepare the meals consistently, and for the staff to make sure they’re checking in with customers during longer waits. A simple update on the food or a water refill would have made a big difference.

I hope you take this feedback to heart because I’d love to continue supporting your restaurant in the future!
