I’ve had the pepperoni pizza by the slice, the chicken cheesy bread, and the lasagna. I was really excited for this place to open because its right next to the gym and laundromat. I did my best to give this new location the benefit of the doubt, but I must be honest. The pizza and lasagna are on par with what you’d get at Costco, at best. Costco’s value is much better, and there is usually more cheese in each slice there as well. This “New York Pizza” would probably embarrass most people from New York. Its not the worst pizza I’ve ever had, but its nothing to tell your friends about. This is probably why I’ve never seen a line to order. There is usually only what appears to be the owner and his spouse in the building… and they aren’t rude, but like their pizza, they aren’t that interesting or friendly. This seems mean, and I don’t wish failure on anyone, but the owner of this place should learn more about what makes successful places work. If there aren’t any major changes to the basics – the cheese, bread, and pep, this place may not be around too long. The lasagna appeared to be frozen… like a Stouffer’s, but not as good, yet more expensive. If this business is still around in 3 months from now I might give it a second chance, and hopefully be able to write a more enthusiastic review.

Updated Review: We really want to like and support Papi’s Pizza Roma. It’s been around since I was a kid. But while things started off great, a number of disappointing experiences has caused us to look elsewhere.
The biggest issues that come up consistently? The pizzas are now always undercooked, and the ingredients are extremely limited. Like if you order mushrooms, you get maybe 1-2 mushrooms, on a large or extra large.
Frustrating.
Original Review: Finding decent pizza in El Cerrito is always a challenge and I feel silly for not trying Pizza Roma sooner, because it’s by far the most superior choice in the area.
Will update the review if consistency falters, but so far this is our favorite choice for a good crust that won’t be soggy.

One of my top five worst pizzas ever. We were looking for a real pizza restaurant and at $28 for an xl three topping we didn’t get one.
Hardly any toppings hardly any cheese rubbery crust I could go on and on about the disappointment in the box. I opened it up and looked at it when I got to the car because the box is so light it’s a pizza mistake.
This restaurant will definitely be closing soon there’s no doubt about it they cant sustain with this quality of product.

Perfect spot for a slice! The crust is always crispy and fresh and they have a great beer selection (a lot on tap). It’s in a shopping plaza, blink and you may miss it!

This is the worst pizza I have ever had. Cheapest ingredients you can get, just nasty. Crust tastes like play dough, we didn’t finish it. The owner overcharged me by $10, then said oops. Never got a refund. You are better off getting frozen pizza. Its way better than this. Will never eat here again.

Fries were bland and undercooked. Half the fries were pale from being undercooked, half were semi crisp. Light pepper seasoning.
Burger was bland as well. Meat could be seasoned more.
