We ordered a variety of dishes and were blown away by how delicious everything was. The Butter Chicken was rich and flavourful, the cheese naan was soft and buttery, and the Mick’s kebab was tender with just the right amount of spice. AGGRESSIVE & THREATENING NEW OWNER
I’ve been ordering from the Raj Douth for several years now, going back to when I lived in Emerson Valley over 12 years ago. Until recently, I’d never had any issues but my most recent experience has completely changed my opinion of this restaurant.
I placed an order around 10:30 pm (30 minutes before closing), which the restaurant kindly accepted. The estimated delivery was between 11:25 pm – 11:40 pm, and as the order was being delivered directly by the restaurant (not through an Uber driver), I left a clear note asking them not to ring my flat buzzer due to the late hour, but instead to call my mobile number when outside so I could meet them and ensure the order was handed to the correct person.
When the food hadn’t arrived by 11:30 pm, I requested two ETA updates through Uber, but no updates were provided. By 11:50 pm, I called the restaurant directly. The person who answered (who identified himself as the owner) said he would contact the driver. He called me back shortly after to say the driver had already delivered my food and gone home. However, I never received a call, message, or buzzer ring, and after checking both the front and rear communal entrances as well as my own door, there was no sign of the order.
I explained this to the owner, but instead of showing understanding or offering any goodwill gesture, he simply told me to request a refund through Uber. When I mentioned that I was disappointed with how it was handled and intended to leave an honest review, his tone became aggressive, and he told me he would “block my refund” if I did so (which he of course cannot do). The conversation then became even more concerning when he made comments referencing that he knew my home address which felt threatening and completely inappropriate.
Thankfully, Uber has since issued a full refund. However, due to the unprofessional and threatening behaviour I experienced from Mr Ahmod Hussain, I will not be ordering from the Raj Douth again. It’s a shame, as I was once a loyal customer for many years, but no one should be made to feel uncomfortable or unsafe when simply trying to resolve a missing order.
