We made reservations there for a party of 40+ for my daughters communion almost 3 months in advance. Then 2 weeks before the communion (after the invitations were sent out and AFTER they accepted our deposit) they call us to say our reservation is now canceled because they will be too busy for us on that day.
After 3 days of phone calls back and forth between my wife and I and there management and owner (who is the most rude person in the world) they finally agreed to stick with the same price and arrangements that were agreed upon when they took our deposit.
Now come the day of the party…
1) We did NOT have our own room as promised and everyone had to squish together because we shared it with 20 other people there.
2) We did NOT get our own buffet as promised so everyone had to wait online for a half an hour each time.
3) The servers were not just slow (took 20 minutes each time to get a drink) but they were EXTREMELY rude.
In all my years or setting up parties for friends and family this was hands down the worst and most unprofessional event ever. Not only will my immediate family never go there again but everyone that attended my party will not as well.
Keep up the bad work New Orleans Steak House!
Long story short, I booked my daughter’s Communion here (over a month in advance.) Three weeks before the date, I get a voice mail while I was on vacation stating: “Sorry, but we didn’t realize that we booked the Communion on 5/11 which also happens to be Mother’s Day. Because of this we’re cancelling your party. We are willing to give you back the $100 deposit you put down.” And that was it.
I called back, very upset, and advised them that I already sent out my invitations to relatives all over the country and I had ordered memorabilia for the Communion with the steakhouse’s name on it and that there was no way I could just move my party to a new location – on Mother’s Day- when the party is in 3 weeks.
You’d think they would have realized they messed up and would have settled this (or at least been apologetic), but instead they ruined our week vacation because each day we had to call, speak to another ‘manager’, and no one gave us any answer. We got one response stating, “Fine, we can let you come but we’re charging you the Mother’s Day price which is an EXTRA $10 per PERSON.” Again, we fought this stating it’s not our error that you messed up reading the calendar and that you need to honor this as you had already cashed our deposit.
In the end, after several days later, they said they’d have to honor the price… BUT, we weren’t getting the private room we were supposed to get. Again, at this point I had no choice because there was no other venue.
When we got there we were pushed to the last half of the room, crammed in with strangers. Instead of having our own buffet for my party which I was promised, we had to share it with the hundreds of strangers in the restaurant. We didn’t have enough seating for my guests and they refused to let us bring more chairs in. We received no empathy from anyone who worked there- only nasty attitudes and snood comments. I, the host, had no seat so therefore did not sit once, ate nothing, and only drank the one drink that I had to ask 5 times to receive. I felt like I needed to be on top of the staff to make sure each guest got what they wanted. They had the option to go to the buffet, and/or order omelets and pancakes from the waiters, but no waiter made that clear so only a handful of guests ordered anything.
In the end, I went home and cried because this dreaded memory will always be in connection to my daughter’s Communion- which should be only a special day.
Horrible service, staff, experience, owner, etc.
To top it off, as I was standing smothered between a table of strangers and the waiters, I saw a waiter drop a glass bottle of ketchup which shattered all over, landing glass in a customer’s plate and ketchup ALL over his back. We watched as they cleaned up the floor before offering him anything to clean his back and the whole while NOT ONE person said sorry. We weren’t surprised.
