Our family went today 9/29/25 for lunch & food was horrible as well as banchans. We had LA Kalbi which had no taste & dry meat. My son’s spicy noodle only had dry pepper flakes no sauce & only had little kimchee & half an egg. Mine soybean soup only had plenty of soybeans, very little tofu & nothing else & no taste except strong nasty smell. Only decent items were seafood pancake & pork bbq which the size was small not like what was shown on Lanai’s show whatsoever! Furthermore, all the banchans were old & common like the slivered daikon & kimchee were extremely sour. The banchan potatoes were light color, raw no flavor & not made properly with brown sugar etc. Our meal was over 100.00 + tip & none of us were satisfied & we’re Koreans. Looked around & glad we didn’t BBQ at table nothing notable. They need to update the prices on Internet too. THE SERVICE WAS LACKING WE WAITED 25 MINS FOR THE FOOD. Never going back to this place & on OC16 show must be real old for this misleading information. Very disappointed & disgusting but since we were hungry & don’t want to waste food we stomached the offerings.
Everyone around us spoke Korean and they were fluent but we never had any issues ordering with the staff. We got brisket and skirt steak for grilling. The banchan (vegetable side dishes) came quick followed by the plate of meat. The meat was tough and the side dishes were okay. There wasn’t anything unique or amazing about the food. We didn’t need much servicing from the staff, we grilled our meats, ate, and left.
The ventilation in the restaurant is not great so you are going to leave here with the scent of grilled meat on you for the rest of the evening. The parking in this area was tough. They have a parking lot behind the building but the spaces are compact and most of the stalls are reserved for residents who live upstairs. It’s better to park on Sheridan Street since you don’t have to feed the meter after 6pm but there’s trees so the birds might poop all over the car.
I don’t remember all the things we ordered, but it was a blurry meat filled experience, with I think a side order of soft tofu soup, and soju, and some beers.
Service was decent considering how busy it was, it was what we could hope and expect in such a bustling place.
The food was great and we really enjoyed it, but the lunch menu is a little limited, which wasn’t a huge problem for us, but might be for other people.
The lower rating is due to the service we received. When we walked in, we told the hostess that there were 3 of us and that my mum was parking the car. My mum walked in and the hostess said “why did you tell me there were 2 of you?”. I shrugged it off as some miscommunication. As soon as my mum sat down, she came over and said “are you ready to order or not?”, literally only a couple minutes after we were seated.
Getting refills on drinks seemed to be pretty difficult and our service didn’t was pretty abysmal until my halmeoni started to speak Korean with the staff.
Definitely come for the food, but if you’re expecting any decent service, I’d try another restaurant.
