I eat here fairly often, and I’m truly appalled by the lack of support and respect these bartenders have, particularly the weekend bartenders. There is no excuse for these ladies being disrespected and assaulted by excessively intoxicated patrons and the owner of this establishment not removing these patrons and supporting his employees. I encourage his employees to find better bosses and to any paying customers to support better small businesses.

We just stopped in for breakfast today and we were thoroughly impressed. The quality and quantity of the meal was great. We sampled the Sunrise Platter and Maw-Maws Waffles from the breakfast menu. If you are looking for a satisfying breakfast then you need to visit the New Castle Tavern.

Wonderful food with even better service. The general manager came over several times and talked to us. She’s incredibly friendly and passionate about the business. We had the chili cheese fries, which were very good. I had the bourbon burger with onion rings and my friend had the Philly with the house made chips. My burger was fantastic and would rival anything in Louisville. The ingredients are first class, including the local beef which is from New Castle. Do yourself a favor and stop in. You will not be disappointed.

Great food and service! The fried fish and other fried foods had just the right thickness of batter and no grease was dripping off. I loved the salad, fried fish, hot chicken and fried green tomatoes.

Based on my own experience I wish I could give them 3.5 stars, but it wouldn’t have been fair to give them only three. I wasn’t really hungry, but I was with friends, so I just ordered the most modestly priced menu item just to be polite. I got the house made chips for five bucks. They were terrible, I only ate a few. They weren’t crisp. They were like leather and had so much garlic they didn’t taste good. Let me emphasize that everybody else’s food looked great and if I had gotten anything else I may have given a five star rating. The atmosphere was fine. It’s a tavern that serves alcoholic beverages including hard liquor but is popular with diners who seemed to make up most of their business and didn’t seem like a place where people were going to get smashed. I wouldn’t hesitate to take my children there. The place isn’t cheap, I am including a couple of pictures of the menu.

We stopped in for lunch. Not very many people in the place. Ordered our food only to have my husband’s meal and my onion rings arrive. I was told “we are waiting on your wings.” My wings were sitting in the window about 2 minutes later and remained in the window for an additional 5-7 minutes. When the waitress finally brought my wings she asked if I wanted ranch dressing, she cleaned 3 tables and waited on a few regulars at the bar and still no ranch. When she finally came back to our table I ask to have my, now cold wings, remade since I still didn’t have any ranch dressing. She took the wings to the kitchen and came back to tell me they were out of ranch. When the bill arrived she acted as if she had done us a favor by taking the wings, that I never saw again, off. We waited 18 minutes to pay the bill I finally had to take the bill to the bar, where most of her attention seemed to be anyway. If you aren’t a regular or sitting at the bar you can forget getting any service.

We went to watch the UK basketball game, and enjoy some drinks and food! It was our first time there and we will definitely be back! The food was delicious! We had the fried green tomatoes, pork belly sandwich and the patty melt. The menu is like bar food but with a modern gourmet twist, and affordable too! The drinks are also very reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and efficient. Also, the owners were there working which is great to see! Loved it!

They had an Old Fashion as one of their happy hour drinks. We went in and I ordered one, the next thing I heard is the bar girl said does anyone know how to make an old Fashion? A guy stepped up and said I know how. But what I received was a drink that looked like cherry Kool aid. It was mediocre. The drink special said it was $5, the sign on the wall said $7, the bill I received was for $6.50. I mentioned this to the guy server and got a sorry but no correction. BTW, I had to inteterup his focus on his phone in order to pay my bill! Doubt if we return.
