Tried out their lunch buffet and it was delicious! I love that you are able to try a few different traditional dishes and see which one you like best. All of the food was delicious. The rose ice cream was also a pleasant surprise! So good. Will def be back.

This place is a true gem. The menu is diverse and everything I’ve ordered is delicious. Their lunch buffet it excellent. The chicken and lamb dishes are tender and juicy, the different curries are so flavorful. Everything is expertly made.
I feel lucky to have a restaurant like this in my neighborhood. From a foodie who loves good curry- this place is top shelf.

Dined at this place during my trip to scranton,PA. Ambience of this restaurant is nice. Staff are courteous. Food service time is decent. Good selection of drinks available.
Tried mirchi bhaji for an appetizer and they are not correctly fried. Chili paneer is great. Malai kofta and Mushroom paneer curries tasted great. Their Indian breads are delicious.
Overall good Indian food eatery in Scranton, PA.

Been here multiple times over the course of the last 15 years or so and this establishment is quite the gem. Staff are very accommodating and friendly. The food is delicious and seasoned well if you like it mild or over the top spicy. We got the buffet as well as ordered a few separate items off the regular menu. The sweet lasso drink was divine, buffet area very clean and well stocked. I would highly suggest this place for first timers trying out Indian food or for well seasoned spice-a-holics as well. I’ll continue to return here.

First, the tandoori chicken, while full of good flavor, was well-done on the outside, and undercooked on the inside. You cannot eat chicken rare.
The portions for the price were a shock— I seriously thought the staff brought out complimentary appetizers. The entrees were just so small. I had to fill up on rice because i was still hungry.

On this alone, I wouldn’t go back. Here’s the sad part:

I bring my family after a long work day out to eat, to try Indian food for first time.

One family member, tired, overworked, looking forward to resting with a good meal after a long day of serving others, who has never had Indian food before, receives her dish, and she just isn’t enjoying it. I feel bad. I was the one encouraging her to come.

She spoke up to the manager. The manager (owner?) woman says to her haughtily, carelessly, as though not understanding her, “Oh, this recipe is correct” [excuse me, if someone never had Indian food before, you can tap dance in it for all she cares about the recipe] “shall i take it and make it more flavorful?” — instead of offering to change it with something else she might like, at least once — yes, it costs you, but if you are in the food business, you once in a while “eat it” to make sure everyone who comes to you hungry goes home happy! (Free advice here.)

Nope. The manager returns with the same dish, only *spicier*. Now my poor relative can’t eat it at all.

So, a family of restauranteurs who hate to see any customer leave unhappy or worst of all, hungry, goes home hungry. Even if you are in business, food should be given with love, even if someone is a tough customer. No one should leave hungry.

To Amber Indian, apparently food is only money. We will not go back.

Delicious Indian cuisine in a casual, classy setting, I found their dishes to be prepared differently than many of the Indian establishments I’ve been to. It was refreshing, though the spice levels are very tame. A medium in the Lehigh Valley restaurants is spicy for those who don’t normally seek out the heat, but here a medium was more like mild or none. I should have ordered the highest spice. Other than that the dishes were flavorful, good color, good proportion, and the prices were very fair. I would return, but I would order more spice, please!

I have been dining at Amber Indian Restaurant for over 20 years and can attest to the great quality of food and service offered here. The atmosphere is charming and comfortable. I love the ethnic decor and the spacious dining area. The food is so delicious and is so flavorful. You have a choice if you would like your food spicy, medium, or mild. They offer a wide variety of options from lamb, chicken, and vegetarian dishes that are sure to please your palette! Curries & and Tandoori are their specialty! They even offer rose ice cream, which is one of my very favorite dessert They also offer gluten-free. They have a lunch buffet and Ala carte dinner. This has been our go-to spot for authentic Indian cuisine for over 20 years and continues to be our favorite place!

Must-return-to restaurant
Quality and cleanliness you wished all buffets had. Get outside of your comfort zone and try a new dish that might just taste better than anything you’ve had. I believe it’s $16 for the lunch buffet and my family comes here all the time. It’s a treat!

Seeing these reviews I can only derive one conclusion. NEPA has very few options for Indian cuisine. This was our second time there and again walked away disappointed.

My first concern is that the spice range is wildly inconsistent. My previous visit I ordered spicy and it was very very spicy. I love spicy but it was too much. This time I ordered medium and there was no spice whatsoever.

The food is quite bland which is amazing for Indian food. I will compliment them for their meet preparation. My lamb was very tender and my wife’s chicken was very well prepared. We ordered the fried fish appetizer and it was juicy and well seasoned. Really could have used a nice sauce though. The ice cream was awful. I expected a creamy ice cream but instead got nothing but ice crystals. It was more like a snow cone than ice cream cone. I took two bites and left the rest. A good waiter would have noticed, nope not our guy.

The restaurant is quite dingy…very clean but their choices of furniture IS bizarre. When you walk in it smells of cigarette smoke I’m guessing which is lingering from years ago.

Most things can be made up with a friendly staff. Amber does not have that. Our waiter never bothered to crack a smile.
