It was my first try from this restaurant and have ordered for pick up, combination dinner “From the tandoor”. I am not big fan of Indian cuisine, but my wife likes it. When we brought it home and she tried to eat, got long hair, now imagine what happens to your appetite 🙁 Maybe it was late and they were tired, but we are talking about the food someone will be eating, covering hair would prevent this incident.

We went to Neelam’s on 07/09/23 for dinner buffet (coming from Jersey City and Edison) where we do not have dinner buffets, this was a pleasant surprise. The ambience is very good. The restaurant is very clean. They had limited options in the buffet (not an elaborate one for weekend). But the food was good.

I am so happy I found Neelam Exotic Indian Cuisine. The house special combination was enough for 2 people. Reasonably priced! Everything was perfectly prepared to my request. I enjoyed my meal and will be back!!!

When I lived in Manhattan I would rent a car just so I could eat here. That should tell you everything you need to know. The family that runs this place is not only very nice but they clearly have some type of secret that makes every one of their dishes far better than every other Indian restaurant I’ve ever tried in my life. Please protect this place at all costs.

New owners apparently took over about 3 or 4 months ago. Haven’t ordered from this place in a while. Used to be 5 stars in my book. Recipe’s have stayed the same but ingredients are cheaper and they’re cutting corners. Got my usual from them and while the chicken was cooked well, the Tikka Masala sauce was bland, and brown, when it used to be flavorful and red and bright.

Food used to be excellent here. I was not happy with the food yesterday. Plus they gave me the wrong thing and I had to drive back in the rain to get the right item. Then to taste it and be disappointed because it wasn’t it like the way they used to make it. It seemed like there wasn’t as much Spinach as before. Sad cause I used to love this place.

Hands down absolutely love this place, whether just for a quick bite or gathering with friends. They also have an all you can eat buffet style for $22 on Sundays were they have everything from select apps, entrees and dessert. Their rasmalai is so creamy and flavorful.

Ordered briyani from here and it was so mediocre , plus it tasted like it was in the fridge all day and they just warmed it up for five minutes … really disappointed I do not recommend this to any of my fellow Monmouth countiers, you want really authentic desi food you have to travel to middlesex county , (Edison , The Brunswicks, Jersey City ,Piscataway) really dissatisfied I’m desi myself and my wife and in laws are Irish and I was embarrassed to make them eat this food because they’re from Middletown so we went to the closest one .

Very sorry to say that Neelam has lost its way after all these years. Forget it. All of the wonderful Indian spices and flavors are completely missing. Bland or watered or down. Hard to say this as I remember this restaurant’s impeccable cuisine. No more.
