I have a hard time leaving 1 star reviews on a place like this. I have a problem in these situations because it is no fault of the employee that helped me or really much of an experience to go off of. My wife and I were walking back to our car from dinner and decided to grab a quick bite of gelato.

Now I want to point out that I do know what good gelato taste like. Manwaring gelato in Idaho falls is amazing. Gelato is made milk heavy instead of cream heavy and doesn’t use air like ice cream does to create a butter fat effect. So it is usually quite a bit thicker (think of the consistency of marshmellow spread) and usually pretty flavorful.

We went in and it was a bit older of a place, like everything in Lava, and it had a small display freezer that held a variety of gelato options. My wife and I sampled a few and none were really that great. Not wanting to leave this employee by saying, these were kind of gross we are not interested I decided to buy a scoop. (I also enjoy supporting local.) I paid the price of $5 a scoop, which is not high for gelato and walked out with my wife. I took one bite of the moose tracks gelato that we had chosen and I just didn’t like it. The flavor was strange and there was hardly and tracks, I didn’t believe a moose had even walked near that gelato. My wife agreed it was honestly a little gross and I begrudgingly tossed a gelato cup in the trash on the street corner with only 2 bites taken out.

Overall, I wouldn’t go here. Particularly not for the gelato. To be fair I can’t speak to any other products in this store.

Masterful small-batch coffee roasts. Wholesome vibes, organic options, and generous information about bean origins reflects their passion. Truly a gem. Your stop for great coffee in Lava Hot Springs. Wish they could ship to me on the east coast.

This is the worst coffee I’ve ever gotten. Ordered a simple hot latte with vanilla and caramel. It’s awful. Ordered the sausage breakfast sandwich. It taste old and freezer burnt. The lady making the coffee was incredibly slow and had no sense of urgency.

Incredible ice cream and gelato, and their coffee is great, too. They have a wide selection of pastries, with some unique options that are definitely worth trying out. I loved how unique all of their ice cream flavors are, I especially liked the seasonal pumpkin pie flavor. Highly recommended, be sure to check this place out.

Side note: not the best if you are allergic to nuts, they have lots of treats that contain them.

We love this ice cream it is amazing. You can sit outside on the side of the building and it has a roof over it to keep you out from the elements.

Nectar is such a cozy, cute little coffee shop/cafe, conveniently nestled right along Main Street in Lava Hot Springs. The drinks are delicious and creative, served by the kindest, most polite staff you could ever ask for. We hope to come here often when we are in town!

I hate to leave negative reviews as I don’t want to be a jerk… but, our experience was exceptionally bad and expensive…and I feel others should be warned. It felt like kind of like highway robbery. I will say the woman who served us was nice, that was pretty much the only positive. I will also add that I am a coffee drinker – not a snob, just a “I’ll take whatever you’ve got, as long as it’s brown” kind of person. I understand not everyone likes or is allowed to drink coffee, that’s fine, but we are talking about a place with “espresso” in the name. This coffee was undrinkable. Watery and just really bad. It was $20 for 2 drinks which is just too much, especially for whatever this was. The only espresso we witnessed was the word written on the sign and instant coffee would have tasted better. It was bizarre…they have an espresso machine which was making noises but apparently nothing came out of it. Same with the roasting machine. Why open a coffee shop if you don’t really serve coffee? If you’re still reading, I’m sorry, I’m just upset because I paid twenty dollars for two undrinkable cups of something bad. All in all it was a super weird experience. I don’t recommend eating or drinking anything from this establishment. To the establishment-please stop tricking people into paying for a product you aren’t serving.

Definitely on the pricier side of things, but flavor is great! “Mud Between Your Toes” is phenomenal. Service was great, she was really nice.

-1 star for price and atmosphere

The customer service was terrible. The girl working was so unfriendly, slow to take and make orders, and felt like we were burdening her. Placing our order felt like we were asking her for free food. She stopped me mid order to tell me that this was too much. Try using a notepad. Its aint that hard.

Got a breakfast sandwich. The food was ok, nothing special. The bagel was covered in char from the griddle though and really should be cleaned. I don’t think I would eat here again until they fix that as it makes me question their cleanliness.
