This place was a FANTASTIC find in Canton. My husband and I love to find one of a kind places when traveling and this stop definitely hit the mark! Great atmosphere, amazing & unique food choices that were a true culinary experience! Homemade cracklins were delish! Great drink options and appetizers too – we loved the hummus. Wait staff was great too! Definitely worth it!

AMAZING food from just as amazing people! Best steak hands down in Van Zandt County you definitely won’t get this type of steak at 4 ️’s! Their burgers might have you dislocating your jaw but you won’t find a better bun or tasty burger this side of the Mississippi!! The waffle fries are seasoned perfectly and fried in Texas beef tallow not Kalifornia oil… (It just make everything taste better!) Their salad and dressings will have you raiding the farmers market because once you have had an amazing salad iceberg lettuce just don’t cut it anymore! Attentive friendly wait staff that know the menu better than you know what your husband’s doing on a Friday night… Great live entertainment so keep an eye on their Facebook page! You may come as a customer but you will return as friends…

We were thrilled to find such a lovely restaurant near the Canton Monday Market. The decor is upscale but welcoming. The service helpful, attentive and friendly. The menu is not extensive but every dish we ordered was definitely elevated, fine-dining. We ordered starters of hummus with spicy broccoli, and roasted shishitos with shaved Manchego. We didn’t clean our plates only to save room for what had to be excellent entrees after such delicious starters. Our main courses were the special, oyster poboy, with pork cracklins, and redfish with speckled beans. Everything was delicious! We highly recommend this place.

Nice. But nothing special. My Hot Link Po Boy was good. Waffle fries seasoned heavily, but good. The others dishes not so stellar. The Gumbo bit flat. Roax bit bland. Flavored just not quite developed. Just chicken and sausage. Would like crawfish option instead of chicken. The Muffaletta was over toasted. Too salty. Just a heavy layer of olive spread and meat. Needs more layers like a true Muffaletta. Service was good. Nice inside. But need to work on developing the entrees more.

This was my first visit to Native Son Family Restaurant, and I was thoroughly impressed. I made the 2½-hour drive to attend the Kelly Willis show, and the entire experience exceeded expectations.
The venue is warm, inviting, and intimate, with an amazing atmosphere that makes live music feel personal and special. Kelly delivered a fantastic acoustic performance, blending songs from throughout her career—it was a real treat.
Service was outstanding. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and engaging, which added greatly to the evening. The food was very good as well. My entrée included chimichurri, and having lived in Latin America, I can confidently say it wasn’t a traditional chimichurri—but it was absolutely delicious and thoughtfully prepared.
Native Son has something special going on. From the vibe to the service to the food and live music, everything came together perfectly. I will definitely be back and highly recommend this venue.

First time here and it won’t be the last hopefully! What a cute spot in the middle of Canton, Texas!
I loved the vibe I felt once I walked in, it was small but not too small, the ladies working were absolutely amazing. They were super attentive and nice, and loved how they all checked on us to make sure we didn’t need anything.
My son and I started with drinks, I had the Transfusion which, I told my son for whatever reason took me to a different place every time I took a sip. He ordered a ranch water, they basically added tequila to a Mineragua which was fine. But he expected it to be in a fancy glass lol but nonetheless he enjoyed it!
We both ordered sandwiches, I had the Muffaletta and waffle fries that were shaken in what seems like Indian spices, just guessing *loved this so much*. The Muffaletta had a lot of different meats and they lathered an olive salad which gave it a very refreshing taste to it. My son had regular burger, no nonsense there he said it was delicious and cooked just right.
Overall very nice place to have dinner, I hear they have live music on certain nights! I will have to come in for that.

This Place is very Quaint. The atmosphere is amazing, great for date night. The Cracklin appetizer with sauce was great.
Being from Louisiana, I had to try the Gumbo with duck, it was truly amazing. My husband and Brother in law ate the pork chops and my Sister in law ate the BLT. The food was Great and service was above and beyond what I expected.

My family loved the food here this past week. Everything came out hot and fresh. The cracklings and remoulade were so flavorful. I loved the chicken I had as well, the flavor combination was amazing and the chicken was moist. The staff were very attentive and welcoming. Would love to see a kids menu with maybe some hand battered chicken strips to go along with the waffle fries. We will be back!!

The place may appear small from an outside perspective however this restaurant is perfectly placed on a street corner and let me tell anyone who is lucky enough to find this gem will find everything short of small! From the food (fries that can be ate dry or with dip that’s not bland) to the atmosphere (vibrant energy and dark color schemes) to the good memories you can take away by yourself or with good company! I was truly in a shock factor with the idea of me taking so long to come inside, sit at the beautiful bar top and help myself to a mocktail and snacks. (Shoutout to Bailey for using one of her life skills as an artist to create me something wonderful!) Not only are the owners polite but also there must be a reason they are filled with joy even during a dinner rush. Bailey was kind and urgent without being hasted by me or the townsfolk. Good job Native son family!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance: warm, inviting, and stylish without trying too hard. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely cares about making sure we have a great experience.
️Every dish we try is fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. It’s rare to find a restaurant that nails the trifecta of great food/drinks, wonderful service, and a comfortable vibe, but this one absolutely does. Whether you’re looking for a cozy dinner, a date night, or a fun evening with friends, this is the spot. Highly recommend…you won’t be disappointed!
