We went back to try since it’s since they changed their menu. Scott mgr was amazing and our waitress was on point! The food was absolute perfection. Taste, ratios, and the atmosphere were wonderful!! Drinks were also perfect!! Honestly don’t think it could have gone any better! Will definitely be back!! They changed their French Onion taking out the apples and it’s honestly one of the best I’ve ever had and that’s my favorite soup!! Just can’t say enough!!!

Before I get into the food coma portion of this review, I want to set the tone.

I’m a big believer in giving restaurants real, honest feedback. Not Yelp-warrior nonsense. Actual constructive feedback. This industry is brutal, and no one opens a restaurant hoping to disappoint people. I also live by “don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.” If a first visit doesn’t hit my expectations, I’ll give a place one more shot before forming a solid opinion. That feels fair to me.

That brings me to Napa Bistro & Wine Bar at Stonecrest.

I run a large, highly active Charlotte food group, and Napa kept popping up with glowing praise. A couple of friends and I made a last-minute decision to check it out. Our first visit, if I’m being honest, was a letdown. The food was beautifully plated and the service was great, but the flavors felt muted. Safe. We left disappointed. I almost wrote about it but stopped myself. One visit isn’t a verdict.

Then the universe stepped in.

I connected with someone closer to management, shared honest feedback, and to their credit, they listened. They invited me back to try their newly launched menu and show that what I experienced wasn’t their standard.

I’m really glad I went back.

Because Napa absolutely redeemed themselves.

The restaurant itself is beautiful. Warm woods, deep green banquettes, soft lighting, and oversized pendant lights that make the space feel cozy without being cramped. Energetic without being loud. You sit down and immediately feel comfortable.

This time around, we let the GM drive and bring out what best represents Napa right now. Risky move. Correct move.

The bacon flatbread was done right. Soft but sturdy crust, good mozzarella coverage, big bacon lardons that actually tasted like bacon, sweet restrained onions, and just enough hot honey for balance.

The ahi tuna tartare was one of the better versions I’ve had in Charlotte. Huge portion, clean knife work, chilled tuna that stayed the star, and light, non-greasy wonton chips. We ran out of chips and spooned the rest without shame.

The herb whipped goat cheese was creamy, thick, and balanced. Not soupy. The herbs, hot honey, and spiced almonds worked perfectly together, and the crostini made it easy to share.

For entrées, the crusted halibut was perfectly seasoned with a great crust. It flaked beautifully and sat over creamy risotto that gave sophisticated mac-and-cheese vibes, finished with roasted vegetables and olive oil.

The mushroom sugo pappardelle, which is gluten-free and vegetarian, was the most talked-about dish of the night. Deep, layered flavor with a marsala sauce that had real depth and gentle warmth. Even the mushroom skeptic at the table loved it.

The fried chicken delivered. Crispy but light, juicy inside, smooth garlic mashed potatoes, and a tasso gravy that was salty, savory, and slightly spicy. Elevated comfort food done right. The broccolini was great on its own and even better dragged through the gravy.

Dessert was all hits. The flourless three-layer chocolate mousse cake was my favorite, rich but balanced by handmade whipped cream. The crème brûlée cracked perfectly and stayed silky underneath. The apple caramel cheesecake was true New York–style: ultra-creamy, no grit, real apple flavor, caramel that didn’t overpower, and just enough crust for balance.

Drinks were solid across the board. I ordered my go-to non-alcoholic “Evan Diamond” (Diet Coke with grenadine). My dining partners enjoyed the cocktails, including the Gingersnap and Espresso Martini.

Service deserves credit. Our server Krystyna was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable. GM Scott clearly knows his beverage program and has built a strong team. Bartender Blake delivered. Owner Jeff Conway should be proud of the space, the menu, and the way the team responded to feedback.

Final thoughts: Napa listened, adjusted, and executed.

This second visit completely erased the first. If you went once and felt unsure, go back. If you haven’t gone yet, now is the time.

Had a late dinner here. It is restaurant week and the menu was good but we decided to go for the regular menu. The food options were great, ended up with their meatballs to start and then the burger and salmon as our mains. Everything was delicious and was unique. I’ve not had a burger like that before and plan to return to try some of the options. I only took a pick of the desert as it was fantastic. Recommended!

Dropped in here for the first time. Lunch on a Thursday. Lovely decor, elevated menu and very sophisticated wine menu featuring (primarily) California selections. The comfortable lounge area (adjacent to the bar) was empty upon our 11:30am arrival, but filled up comfortably by the time we left. The service was efficient and personable. The food was fantastic. Specifically, the house quiche was ample and delectably custardy. We tried two cocktails, which were refreshingly citrusy. The chocolate mousse cake was accentuated by an absolutely splendid vanilla (and lavender?) craime freshe.

Overall, I will gladly return and would recommend highly to anyone looking for a relaxed, upscale dining experience. For the Ballantyne area, a comparable experience would be the Galleria Restaurant at the Ballantyne Hotel—sophisticated without the pretense of a place like Hestia. The restaurant is also set up beautifully for functions, such as rehearsal dinners or small professional events.

First time at Napa Stonecrest for my birthday last night and I was made to feel so special! Zack, our server, had the best recommendations for wine, appetizers, and main course. We started with meatballs and cauliflower as apps and the cauliflower was roasted with coriander and apricots giving it a unique flavor that was the perfect lead in to our main dishes. I ordered the halibut and Zack recommended I pair it with the shrimp, so good! Husband had the chicken which is stuffed with cheese and moist and delicious. The portions were big which left me no room for dessert but the chef surprised me with a birthday treat of chocolate mousse that was like eating fluffy clouds. Brendan was Zack’s assistant and he was on top of everything. Great conversation and he had fresh plates and utensils for us every step of the way. Posting pictures! Please go – you will love it!

Amazing experience at Napa in Stonecrest last night. We came in to celebrate my sister in law’s (twins) birthday and the staff did a lot to make us/them feel special. The service was amazing and everyone’s food was excellent. We had the bread service, tuna tartar and the cauliflower appetizers. Highly recommend both the bread service and cauliflower apps. Our table also had several Salmon entrees, the stuffed chicken and the Shrimp pasta. All of the entrees were excellent but the stuffed chicken was SPECTACULAR. Seriously probably the best chicken dish that I’ve had all year. Overall, a great experience even on a Monday night. Bravo to the staff, the kitchen and our waiter.

My husband and I came here for a date night. Reservations are recommended especially on a weekend. We sat in the lounge area, but it was beautiful and comfortable, with low noise levels so you can carry on a conversation. We ordered small plates to share, some cocktails and wine. Our server, Misa and Bartender Blake, were very professional, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We would love to come back to sample more things on the menu.

First experience here and we had a reservation for Valentine’s Day, that was changed to an organized menu after the reservation was placed which was unfortunate. Firstly, the seating here is terrible!! They just have large booths that have about 3 tables in them and you are literally sitting right next to the other tables, which makes it very awkward to have an intimate dinner when you hear someone conversing and chewing their food right next to you. They had to remake a simple margarita due to it tasting off, which the waiter agreed as well. They were out of 2 wines I originally requested, and we were told everything was going quickly? Also, my partner had the filet and lobster and the lobster was so incredibly overcooked it was rubbery and inedible. They also substituted his asparagus for broccolini without notifying us of the change. I got the pork chop and my swiss chard was so overcooked it was practically mush. The ONLY good thing about this dinner was the cheese cake. To be SO EXPENSIVE, I expected to have a delicious and well made meal. If we were not so hungry and it wasn’t a holiday, we would have sent it back and left immediately. Heard great things about this restaurant, so not sure if its this location.

Napa is great and the (still newish) Napa Bistro and Wine Bar is no exception. The food is amazing and service and atmosphere are phenomenal. VT was our server and it’s hard to imagine a better one. Super encouraging and engaging, exactly the right blend of friendliness and helpfulness while still letting my wife and I enjoy a great date. 10/10 will be back!

My wife and I just checked it out for a date night and It certainly did not disappoint. The food was incredible, the service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was warm. Highly recommend the cauliflower starter, the octopus and scallops. The cocktails were delicious as well. Definitely worth adding to the top of your night out list!
