This restaurant has been here for a while. Bar area was very busy at 5:30 dining room half full the Chowder should have been better being that we’re on an island clams were a little tough happy chicken Taco the chicken was boiled had no flavor. Sat inside bar and was not given silverware after giving food It’s seems like certain places in the restaurant and staff for overwhelmed and others were very slow standing around. Great atmosphere.

Great view from the upper floor, excellent food!! Service was wonderful and for an October day, they said the sun will come out, and it did!!! Can’t wait to go back.

Loved the seafood. Fried Scallops were the sweetest, tastiest ever. The clam chowdah ( Boston accent) was really good. Creamy and full of clams, potatoes and great flavor. The crab cake sandwich on Brioche was awesome great flavor. The fries were crisp and the coleslaw was tangy and fresh. The drinks were very cold and refreshing after a day exploring on the island.

Good selection of local beers and nice view overlooking the water. Seems like it’s always packed as it’s right in the downtown area. Nice place to have a drink but as others have mentioned the food is just mediocre. Needed better seasoning/higher quality ingredients but overall not bad for bar food. Nice place to grab a drink and enjoy the view. Also the staff is friendly.

Our server, Kelly, was wonderful. Very attentive, friendly, helpful and not pushy at all. We were seated outside by the host immediately who knew a two top was free the second we approached the podium. The food was decent. Nothing to write home about, but it came out really quickly. It’s clear that this establishment knows how to turn a table fast, and they keep everything well organized. The outdoor seating is certainly nice on a beautiful day like today, so the atmosphere is excellent in that respect.
On to the food. The calamari was delicious, the chowder was good, but the mozzarella sticks were a let down. They had very little flavor, the sauce wasn’t great and the sticks themselves needed to be in the frier for longer. When you bit into them the cheese pulled right out in one whole piece. It wasn’t very appealing, but we ate it anyway. We try not to waste food unless it’s really horrible.
It’s not a spot that we’ll keep on our regular list of go-tos, but we won’t actively avoid it either. Worth a visit if you’re just looking for a quick bite, because they will have you in and out.

Great location for lunch. I was lucky enough to get a table on the balcony overlooking the marina. Loved the Thai style chicken sandwich on a fresh soft ciabatta. The hoisin aioli is genius. I chose the coleslaw side which was the best I have had in the US, fresh, crisp and creamy.

You are definitely paying for the view here. The food was mediocre, if that. The coleslaw was horrible and when I tried to make it better with salt and pepper, the salt grinder I was given was empty. No mayo or mustard was provided with a burger. At a minimum one would expect to be asked if the plate didn’t come with either condiment. The server I had seemed like he would prefer to be any place but at his job. He did the bare minimum but never smiled once. Another server who I asked for help from I could tell was annoyed because I wasn’t in her section. She was at least willing to find my server who brought me what I needed. In general the staff here seems quite apathetic to working here as evidenced by the empty salt grinder. It’s a shame because this place could be great with the view of the harbor.

We were craving some fried food and mudslide – made a great choice coming to The Tavern!

After a long trip from NY, once we got off the boat to land in Nantucket, this is the first awesome spot to get a drink, so strong that we felt so sober-:) good service too! A got spot for crowd watching.

I sat outside yesterday and had the best lunch yesterday. Even when it started to rain, our waitress Lizzie, made sure we were dry and having a great time. She recommended the mudslide and Nantucket scallops — how can it get more Nantucket than this?? I am now back here for the second day in a row sitting at the bar and Simon made me a delicious drink. I’ll probably be back tomorrow!
