If you look at all my reviews you see I DON’T write bad reviews. I only write reviews of places that are good and deserve a review. This will be the first time I’ve written a bad review.
Today I took my 8 year old granddaughter out for a burger. We decided to try a spot we’ve never been to. Nancy Jo’s….bad idea. Upon entering the location on Market street in Salem, Oregon I immediately thought of one of those dive joints you only see in movies.
Three “dudes” were “working”. We gave our order and with only one other table being occupied and had already been served, I figured we’d get our food quickly. Not the case.
After we ordered and WAITED for our food, it arrives at our table. My granddaughter ordered a cheeseburger and fries no mayo or mustard. Just ketchup. Her burger was loaded with mustard to point she only ate a few bites and tossed it because she couldn’t taste anything else. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries….I got the cheeseburger. It was covered in an EXCESSIVE amount of mayo, mustard and ketchup….ridiculous amount. I never did get the fries.
If the food wasn’t bad enough the atmosphere was horrible. The three “dudes” working had their radio turned up loud enough it was hard to communicate with my granddaughter and the music was gangsta rap full of profanity. Probably not the type of environment I’m sure the owner wouldn’t appreciate or wouldn’t allow if they were in the building. Certainly not the music you want any 8 year old hearing. To top that off, the “dudes” put on a full karaoke session for one of the profanity laced songs.
First impressions are pretty important. The counter was dirty, behind the counter it looked completely unorganized and the atmosphere was just as bad. I can say in full confidence Neither myself nor my granddaughter will be returning to a Nancy Jo’s restaurant ever again.
The value was terrible as well. For what received and didn’t receive it was way overpriced.
I do not recommend Nancy Jo’s.

I just got my order from here, and Levi was the most Kindest person to have served me ever, i don’t usually write reviews but he’s so nice and kind, the cooks made our food to perfection and we will be coming back, they had run out of fry sauce and a cook had offered to make us some and i think that was absolutely amazing, definitely above and beyond customer service from all three workers tonight, but especially levi! he complimented my sweater and again was absolutely kind

If you’re looking for a classic style burger joint from the American hey day but with modern updates – this it!!
(Modern updates mean cool new toppings like bbq sauce, peanut butter, etc).
Also, this place has the best fries hands down.

Nancy Jo’s Burgers and Fries is the 50s style diner. I got their strawberry milkshake, which is super good, would definitely recommend.

had to give a low rating to this location. ordered the big bacon cheeseburger with everything along with jalepenos and grilled onions with hog fries. i heard them talking about my order many times how they forgot this and forgot that but i figured it would be right when it go out. they had forgot the bacon and forgot the grilled onion as well. in the end the jalepenos never made it on the burger. the bun was waaaay over cooked due to how long it stayed on the grill and i think they let the meat sit on the bun while waiting because by the time i made it out to my car the bottom bun was soggy like they had dipped it in water first. this was my 2nd time trying this location with both times being very sub par.
if you want a good burger from Nancy joes i would choose a different location.
i do want to say the woman taking orders did an amazing job at making everyone feel welcome and made sure to tell everyone to have a great day as they left.

I hope you like your burger well done because we got three charbroiled hockey pucks. They were literally crunchy. Used to be a good burger place but they’ve been going downhill for years and now I’m done. Never going back. Edit: how am I supposed to “reach out further?” No contact information provided.

Everything I go here it’s delicious and makes me happy. The burgers live up to the name “Best in Willamette Valley”. The people are nice and the atmosphere is… there is no other way to put it but… Cool . I recommend them. Also I think they actually make their own sauce instead of using thousand island like everywhere else which makes the unique!

I can definitely taste why Nancy Jo’s Burgers have been voted the #BestBurger in the #WillametteValley for over a decade! This is the kinda burger that you take a big bite out of and say, “Now that’s a good burger!” We were greeted right away, and the young man took our order efficiently. Our food came out maybe 10 minutes later, and he brought it right to us at the table. The patties are seasoned well and cooked smashburger style with plenty of cheese and bacon. Then you get the classic toppings of onions, tomato, lettuce, and lots of pickles! The veggies were fresh and crisp. And I love that they do ketchup mustard and mayo! They have several other toppings you can add on – but I wanted to keep it simple on this first try. The fries were sooooo good, well salted, and fried well. You have to try the fry sauce, too – it has lots of pickle flavor without chunks of pickle.
We went to the Market St. location in Salem. The parking situation is a little strange, but that’s just the shopping center’s poor setup. There is a drive-thru option, inside seating and outside for when the weather is nice. Bathrooms were well kept. All in all, it was a very pleasant dining experience.

Food quality was great, but I ordered a chili burger and was disappointed. I was expecting a burger smothered in chili like every chili burger I have ever had. Not a regular hamburger with a dab of chili on it like ketchup. Ate it with my hands not a fork, like every chili burger I have ever ate. But it was good and will go back. The fries were awesome.

Wow hands down one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten. Stop by because of so many positive reviews I had to try one for myself. This is definitely a throwback Old school themed Burger establishment. They’re topping selection is very generous. on my burger I chose grilled mushrooms and they were of exceptional quality. If you’re like me on your first trip make sure to order a small fries it’s plenty of potatoes. In fact it could easily serve 2 adults.
