Ok….so here’s the honest low down on this place….
If you haven’t tried Nanas Rum Cakes, then you are doing something wrong with your life! They are incredibly moist and texture and flavor are spot on. The best Rum cake I have ever had.
And as far as Nana and Mr. Nana who are the owners…..such incredible people! They were so nice! I cannot recommend this place more.
Run, don’t walk there now!

The price seems high if you’re used to buying premade stuff at big chain stores, and the presentation may be unadorned, but they make good food. I would rather pay for quality than presentation. The food all looks great too so I would say the price is right. The soup menu was huge for what I expected. There are passionate people running this business. I’ve never been disappointed buying the little cake balls. I plan to get the next holiday/celebration cake I need here. I also think these cakes would make a great alternative wedding cake to the traditional sort 😉

Everything I have had at NaNa’s Rum Cakes has been delicious! Nana and John are super friendly. They make rum cakes in many different flavors all are a tasty treat. They also make soups including the End Of The Journey soup which tastes exactly like the soup from Journeys End. My favorite place to stop in and pick up soup and a sweet cake snack. They even have homemade Sloppy Joes. Stop in and give them a try you won’t be disappointed!

Friendly staff — and GREAT products. The assorted cake balls were all good, and — a surprise — they have soup! I highly recommend the mushroom brie. Oh — and as a first-time customer, they let me try a piece of vanilla rum cake. It was good, especially the top part (extra soaked).

Love this place. Nana’s soups are wonderful. She always has some fresh and others frozen. If you want a delicous, healthy homemade dinner and you don’t feel like cooking….stop looking. Rum cakes are delicous as well.

They have great tasting gluten free versions of many of the flavors.
I give these cakes as gifts to my employees and friends during the holidays or special occasions. Now my employees look forward to them every year.

This place is a true find. a REAL mom and pop bakery complete with a mom and pop! Cookies, muffins, and a huge variety of rum cakes and rum balls and even slices of rum cake to go. I counted seven or eight flavors.
We also found that they supply a lot of hard to find Lake Geneva delicacies and other items that you would find in an upscale farmers market.
We have to keep places like this alive! Once they’re gone, they’re gone.

I stopped with a girlfriend to Libertyville’s farmers market today and I can’t believe I didn’t stop here sooner! Not only can I get a slice for $1 but the owner is so sweet and amazing! Just like her cakes! I purchased the Banana rum slice and the Pina Colada slice! I really wished I bought more! I’ll definitely be back! Thanks for making these tasty creations!
