Nana’s is one of the best tasting pizzas I’ve had in a very long time. The sauce is amazing and the cheese is fresh. The crust is perfect. You can tell the food is made with love. Glad they are close enough to visit often or we may have had to move.

We had a wonderful experience bringing our AL residents here for a make-your-own pizza outing. The environment was welcoming, comfortable, and perfect for our group. The owner was incredibly friendly, patient, and made everyone feel right at home. Our residents loved creating their own pizzas, and it truly made for a fun and memorable day. We can’t thank them enough for their kindness and hospitality!

A wonderful local restaurant. My lasagna is hard to describe how good this was, but I’ll try. Comforting, flavorful, and honestly one of the best meals I’ve had in a while.
Val is always welcoming and accommodating with whatever everyone wants.
If you’re a foodie, this is a great place to go.

My wife and I found this place on the CT pizza list and decided to stop by on the way back from a day trip. This place is wonderful! The food was delicious and we felt like we were eating at a true local establishment that actually cares about their customers and takes pride in their food. The byrek is a must try and the pizza is fantastic. We will definitely make this place a must stop for any time we are in the area. Cannot recommend Nana’s Byrek enough!!

Went to nanasbyrek today for lunch-dinner. We were welcomed and treated extremely well. Ordered soups and salads. The food was so fresh and nothing like I have had before. Homemade soup and they combined two of the salads into one it was delicious . Had cannoli and tiramisu for dessert also homemade. Extrodinary! Will definetely go back as this was first visit but definitely not our last. Cannot wait to try other things in menu. Also we were given a piece of pizza to sample . ******

If you find yourself in Waterford, stop by Nana’s, the pizza tastes like real New York pizza. The dough is hantossed, sauce is flavorful, and I think they use more than mozzarella, because even the cheese is tasty.

We dined here tonight with our two kids. Ages 5 and 1. We felt welcomed as soon as we stepped foot in the door. My son made the homemade pizza and had a great time. The food was phenomenal and the service was spectacular. We will come as a family here again

I hate to write this review, but I just don’t see how this place is 4.8/5 on Google. I ordered 2 grinders, a meatball and chicken parm. At around $13 each, it definitely wasn’t cheap but I was hoping they would be full and with freshly made ingredients. The chicken parm, was like chicken tenders and cut up so oddly I have never seen anything like it. A chicken cutlet should be thin and crispy, this was soggy and thick. The meatballs, tasted like frozen ones and they were cut in half and didn’t fill the sandwich. The bread was extremely odd, had no flavor, and you couldn’t even pick it up without having your hands covered in grease. I had to use a knife and fork. I feel bad but I just can’t support this place.

As any discerning pizza lover knows, the ultimate test of a pizzeria’s craft lies in its simplest offering: the classic cheese pizza. With that in mind, I recently visited *Nana’s Byrek Pizza* in Waterford, Connecticut, eager to see how their take on this iconic staple measured up.
To begin with, the flavors of the pizza were respectable. The tomato sauce was well-balanced—neither too sweet nor too acidic—and applied with a measured hand, achieving that coveted harmony between sauce and cheese. However, where the flavor excelled, the texture left something to be desired. The slice, when held, lacked structural integrity, with a noticeable limpness that detracted from the eating experience. Further, while the cheese was flavorful, it missed that golden, bubbly finish—a hallmark of a perfectly baked pie.
It’s worth noting that a slight tweak in preparation might make all the difference. On a future visit, I plan to request the pizza *well done*, which may resolve the texture and browning issues. While this slice fell short of greatness, it was far from the worst I’ve encountered. With its promising flavors and thoughtful sauce application, *Nana’s Byrek Pizza* shows potential—one I look forward to revisiting for a second chance.
