A truly soulful kitchen!!
Nana J’s is a soul-filled, flavor extravaganza.
A meat and 2 sides, a drink, cornbread and dessert. You may leave here, but it will not be hungry.
An older building and gravel-pocked parking lot greet you. A small dining room with alternating black and yellow table “cloths.” Several 4-top tables and a few smaller.
Today’s specials are written on the board.
Fried ribs! Tender delicious ribs that are battered and fried in singles. Quite amazing! Paired with the homemade bbq sauce and your are one step closer to food coma.
The fried chicken wings are hot, fresh, crispy and seasoned well.
ALL of the vegetables are seasoned. The okra is crazy good. Fresh and crispy before it’s fried, makes it fried and deliciously crispy after!!
The Lima beans are rightly seasoned. The Mac and cheese is homemade cheesy goodness.
Rice and gravy is good to boot.
This is a place where getting a veggie plate is not a punishment!
The cake is amazing. Light, moist, perfectly sweet and a touch of lemon. Just wow!!

Finally got to try this place and the wings were okay for me but the OXTAIL babyyyyy were da bomb!!! All of this was almost $50. 10/10 will go back for oxtails, collard greens and the mashed potatoes. The lemonade was also delicious. The lady at the counter was the sweetest and will be back!!

Oh my gosh. I’m a huge foodie and you HAVE to go here. Nana J and her whole family run the restaurant and are the most welcoming and fun people around. Then the food. Oh my God the food. The smothered pork chop is hands down the best pork chop I’ve ever had in my life. Add the collard greens and the mashed potatoes. Divine. The meatloaf is what I now expect every meatloaf should taste like and the fried catfish is out of this world. If you like oxtail, do it. Trust me. The wings are fried but oh so juicy and the cake at the end is delicious. It’s a thousand percent worth going to. Truly. Please make the visit. They deserve and earned it.

We got the fried chicken, smothered pork chops, and mac n cheese, fried okra, and baked beans for the sides and everything was so fresh and you can tell it was made with lots of love and care. Absolutely amazing. 5 different state for Vacation . 2 Adults to kids average meal cost 200. Plus . Spent 80 dollers here food was amazing best meal I’ve had in a long time . You leave stuffed . Bucket lists restaurant. Don’t let the looks fool you .This hole in the wall will surprise you .
