Really weird experience. We ordered the kimchi fried rice to share and it came out with beansprouts and ground pork in it, but no signs or taste of any kimchi. As a dish, it tasted fine. Kind of like ordering a burger and getting a perfectly good roast beef sandwich. Nothing wrong per se, but why label something completely different to what it actually is?

Best shoyu ramen I’ve had in Portland, perfect portion to get a bowl and an apetizer. I got two apetizers and got a bit too full. Shoyu Ramen includes porkbelly, fat perfectly rendered for a supple bite, a whole soft boiled egg, seaweed, bamboo shoot, beansprouts, green onion. Every condiment generous and perfectly cooked. Wakame salad comes with cucumber and tomato, and a slice of lemon. Wonderful additions, really rounded out the sweetness of the wakame. Gyoza comes with a lemon as well, and lightly spicy dip that is still forwarly soysauce and vinegar. And a pot of earthy genmaicha green, three full pours with some left to savor the last bitterness of the tea. Absolutely delightful experience.

I enjoyed the fried chicken even though it was not what I was expecting. Usually karaage is served boneless, twice fried but this was a drumstick. Still delicious!

The gluten free miso ramen and wakame salad was really good. My friends had the salmon poke bowl, fried chicken, kimchi and kimchi fried rice. All the food was delicious. Friendly staff and great location. Will come back again

My husband loves their yuzu salmon poke. I used to love their salad, but they stopped offering it. I also really liked the Korean chicken wings, but now they only have chicken legs. I miss the salad and the wings.

03/11/20: 4.5 out of 5 – I came here with my Wednesday Running Group. We’ve been to Nama Ramen many times in the past, but it’s been awhile. Just haven’t gotten around to doing a proper review. So, here is my take.

I was so excited to find a place with gluten free ramen noodles. Ordering online was easy. When I picked up, no hello or smile or anything. I confirmed “one is gluten free, right?” And the girl at the counter pointed to the receipt and said “yeah, it says gluten free noodles” but kind of rudely. I said “I just want to make sure and confirm.” Most restaurants are used to dietary restrictions and allergies and happily reassure that it is. Thankfully the gluten free noodles and regular look very different so I could tell just by looking. None of us really liked our ramen though, not a great miso flavor and the tofu was weird tasting. Mushrooms were too chewy. I didn’t even want to finish my ramen, it was not good. Kimchi was good, though. Overall, rude customer service and not tasty. Darn
