The food was delicious, the atmosphere was cozy, and the staff was friendly. Very fluffy fry bread- so yummy- and my husband commented on the excellent chorizo they used for his dish. I also loved the wojapi (berry jam) that we had with our extra side of fry bread. Sorry… we devoured it so quickly, I didnt get a pic. It was that good!
A great stop for brunch. Plus they had the football game on, which was an unexpected bonus. Highly recommend!
She greeted us right away and made us feel very welcome. The cafe itself is beautiful, very open and clean but inviting and intimate. She was very kind in letting us know what wasn’t available and even modified my Shirley Temple with ginger ale since they were out of 7-Up (less sweet but still delicious!!). All of this said, it was a bit of a wait for food but MAYBE 25 minutes for the fried zucchini and the stuffed fry bread. Worth every minute of the wait! Having grown up here in the PNW and learning all about the Native American tribes here, someone was always available to make fry bread; but I haven’t had it since I was little. The stuffed fry bread was so warm and comforting and familiar in a way but still something new. We already can’t wait to come back and try breakfast and ALL the desserts!!
(The 90’s VEVO music video playlist was an added bonus )
I already love Frybread and coming here felt like coming home for dinner. Very welcoming with conversation and positive energy!
Great prices, great food, homemade native recipes including organic jams too.
I had a Frybread native taco, a Frybread with homemade berry jam, and I also bought a jar of homemade jam to enjoy at home.
Nacho Mama’s Fry Bread Cafe is an absolute gem! We tried the Native Taco, beef stew, and zucchini fries, and every bite was incredible. The Native Taco was the standout—perfectly seasoned beef and beans, piled high with fresh veggies, all resting on a warm, pillowy fry bread that was crispy on the outside and soft inside. If you’ve never had a Native Taco before, this is the place to try it; if you have, this is exactly how it should be done!
The beef stew was rich and hearty, and the zucchini fries were a crispy, flavorful surprise. On top of the fantastic food, the welcoming staff made the experience feel like visiting friends for dinner. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and with a bar and a tempting breakfast menu, there’s even more to come back for.
As a bonus, they have live acoustic music on Friday nights. With a full bar it would be a nice low key spot to hang out in white center.
I waited too long to go in—don’t make the same mistake!
If you’re still not convinced, let me say it again: Get the Native Taco!
My husband and I walked in and saw someone waiting for take out. We waited about 10-15 minutes unsure what to do, until another couple came in, then the owner came out to take our orders. Besides appearing to be busy, she made many comments aloud about how busy she is, and needing to help make more dough or she’d have to close early..
Wait for our food wasn’t bad, about 15-20 more minutes. Our order was initially taken to the wrong table. Even still, I got served the wrong dish, then the owner comes back out and yells “wait don’t touch those nachos!” even though that was the correct half of our order..She fumbles around with the receipts and comments loudly how she doesn’t have her glasses, then I hear her talking to someone in the back, about again, needing help to make more dough because it was a busy day or she’d have to close.
The food tasted rushed—flavor lacked and the frybread was tough and not very warm. I had to remind the person helping that I’d ordered the sweet frybread as well. I was anxious about having clicked “no” for receipt since things were so unorganized. We weren’t checked on again.
The owner seems to have a heart for the business, and, because of all of the disorganization and overall experience, I wouldn’t return until quite a few changes are made. I left feeling like it might have helped to just not go in..maybe switching to take out only for now would lessen the burden? I’m sure running a small food business is really challenging these days, so I do hope things get better for the owner. I overheard her saying she got a grant from the city to renovate, I hope that can help with hiring and improving the experience in the future.
