Been wanting to try this spot for the longest but feel like I would be let down because Nam Vang on Alvin is elite and always a sj staple. Eventually gave it a shot because my brother went give his opinion. Came on a Monday around 5pm. No one in sight… we were the only ones there, which wasn’t a good sign, service was great though.
Overall clean and your standard Vietnamese restaurant.
To the food! Man the #1 was honestly as good or little better than nam vang. I did it with broth today since my body needed some thing soupy from the weekend. Meat was very tender, soupy was cleansing my soul, and a lot of flavor from the dried shrimp and ground pork. Chinese donut was fresh it felt like. Only thing the meatball was not sticking together as much as I like (I like Nam vang meatballs better)
Glad I have this place a shot. Probably will go here again soon to try the non broth one.
Also heard it could be same family as owner of Nam Van, which would make sense.
I don’t understand why this place not busy. Maybe location issue. Feel like restaurants there don’t get enough foot traffic

Food is served typically well under 20 minutes often times mutch faster. There is a plethora of different meal options and insanely good Vietnamese/Cambodian fusion. Ate here several times and will continue to do so in the future.

Finally we had a chance to eat here for the first time!!!! Yay lol This restaurant has been open for a while now and there seem to b always people here. Great location right inside Grand Century Shopping Mall. Really clean, Cozy, Spacious seatings. Decent prices and simple appetizers, soups, rice plates, and beverages. Hu Tieu Nam Vang was great, delicious meatballs, and flavorful bone broth similar to the one on Alvin location. We absolutely loved eating here. Definitely perfect for this Rains stormy weather. We stumbled into this restaurant while walking through the mall. It’s a fairly large and clean space with a plethora of tables to accommodate customers. Their key dish is the Cambodian style noodle soup which we ordered, dry, with soup on the side. The soup and noodles were quite delicious and I would certainly go back to eat there again.

Newly opened restaurant serving hu tieu nam vang, from the same family that owns the famed Nam Vang restaurant off of Alvin. I always order hu tieu dry (soup on the side) and the soup is excellent. Been here already twice and also tried their spicy hand pulled noodle dish (hu tieu NK dai) which is now my fave! I plan to come back here whenever I’m craving either one. The place is clean and well kept. The Yelp reviews seem to stem from a rough grand opening, but I think they’ve gotten better since then.
My only wish is that the hand pulled noodle dish would have more noodles, it felt heavy on the meat & veggies. I’d also like to suggest adding a bottle of sauce to tables for patrons to add more to their hu tieu if they need more, but for me the served portion was perfectly fine.

Food is really good! The price is very reasonable, especially for San Jose! I can eat here weekly! Try their pepper steak with rice!

I have eaten Cambodian noodle soup at Nam Vang since they first opened. Now I found out this place is the spin-off from the old one. The taste is exactly the same but better atmosphere. The service is also good. Plenty of parking compared to the old one.
