From the moment you step through the doors, you’re embraced by the warmth and passion of Poppy, the owner. Her deep knowledge of food, wine, and local ingredients is matched only by her kindness and genuine love for sharing the best of Ithaca with her guests. Every dish comes with a story, and every recommendation feels personally tailored.
Her husband and co-owner Nektarios is equally welcoming and knowledgeable. The two of them together create an atmosphere that is relaxed, elegant, and completely unforgettable.
And let’s not forget the incredible staff—every single person we encountered was friendly, professional, and passionate about what they do. It’s clear that the team at Myrtia works like a family, and they treat every guest with the same genuine care.
The food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every ingredient is locally sourced and treated with respect and creativity. You can taste the freshness in every bite. From the starters to the mains to the desserts, not a single note is out of place. And the drinks—whether it’s local wine or a perfectly mixed cocktail—are just as thoughtfully chosen and beautifully presented.
If you’re coming to Ithaca, Myrtia is not to be missed. It’s more than a restaurant—it’s a celebration of local flavor, passion, and the kind of warmth that stays with you long after the meal is over.
We’re already dreaming about our next visit- or 10!
First of all, the location is fantastic. The view from the terrace is absolutely stunning. The overall layout, decoration, and table settings were elegant yet simple, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
We started with the black pig truffle sausage, the “Destination Ithaca” blue cheese salad, and the goat meat pie. The salad and pie were outstanding — the pie was perfectly crispy on the outside with tender, flavorful meat inside, and the salad had a beautiful balance of baby spinach, apple, and blue cheese. The sausage was good, though not as memorable as the other starters.
For our main, we had the goat meat, and I can confidently say it was the best I’ve had in this region — and we’ve been here for almost two months!
We finished with the honey semifreddo, which was absolutely sublime. To top it all off, Poppy generously offered us homemade limoncello, which was the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal.
Highly recommended!
The restaurant is beautiful and very well cared for. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing, from the nice view to the charming garden filled with fresh vegetables. It’s a setting that instantly makes you feel relaxed.
The menu is quite extensive, and it honestly took us a while to decide what to order because we wanted to try everything! Unfortunately, it was just the two of us, so we couldn’t taste it all. The cuisine is elevated, authentic Greek with some creative twists, and every dish we tried was great.
The service was outstanding. The staff were extremely polite and attentive, making sure everything was perfect.
It would be a real shame to visit Ithaca and not dine here. Just make sure to book in advance, we went at the end of August and still had to make a reservation two days ahead!
The restaurant itself feels like a modern Greek fairy tale—charming stone buildings, a serene garden setting, and the kind of ambiance that invites you to slow down and savor the moment.
The food is a beautiful tribute to local and Greek traditions, with every dish crafted with a modern touch and deep respect for the ingredients. You can taste the care and pride in every bite. The wine list is also thoughtfully curated, highlighting local Kefalonian and Ionian producers.
But what truly makes Myrtia shine is the people. The team is incredibly warm and welcoming, always smiling, attentive, and genuinely happy to share the story behind their dishes and wines.
If you find yourself in Ithaca, do not miss this place. It’s not just a dinner—it’s a full experience for the senses and the soul.
Nestled in the charming village of Stavros, Myrtia is more than just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of authentic Greek gastronomy. Often hailed as the finest dining experience on the island of Ithaca, Myrtia could easily hold its own among the most refined establishments on the Greek mainland.
The restaurant boasts a breathtaking double terrace with panoramic views over Aphales Beach and the picturesque village of Frikes, offering a serene backdrop that elevates every meal into a memorable occasion.
Service at Myrtia is impeccable—attentive, warm, and deeply knowledgeable. The staff’s dedication to detail ensures that every guest feels genuinely welcomed and cared for.
The cuisine is organic and thoughtfully curated to highlight the richness of local ingredients. From handcrafted non-alcoholic juices to artisanal cocktails, every element of the menu reflects a commitment to sustainability and flavor. And the desserts? They are nothing short of exquisite—worthy of the finest patisseries in Greece.
Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or a local connoisseur, Myrtia promises an Ionian food experience that is both soulful and sophisticated.
We had appetisers of “Destination Ithaca” Blue Cheese, & Smoked Trout and Ricotta Ravioli, followed by Locally sourced Ithacan Goat and potatoes & Char grilled Greek Iberico Pork, both well juicy, tender & very well made. Desserts were Lemon scented Meringue, & Pecan slice with Oiniades pecans, we highly recommend a visit if you’re visiting Ithaca! Thank you everyone at Mrytia for a memorable evening.
