Our bartender was friendly, helpful with the menu, and the food was all impeccable. ESPECIALLY the Shrimp and Grits. We’re going back as soon as we’re back in Newport. Just a fantastic experience across the board.
I am a retired Chef who still cooks at home every night. My husband suggested that we go out and try Myril’s, which I had been wanting to go to since they opened, and I can’t say enough about how good our food was, not to mention the view!
Hat tip to Brandon our server and to the Chef, my Pasta was cooked perfectly! This is definitely a restaurant worthy of 5 Stars and where we will be dining often.
Pictured is the Seafood Linguine, House Ricotta & Beet Salad, Carrot Cake and the view from our table.
Our arrival around 4:10 PM on a sunny Saturday afternoon was met with a quiet entrance – no host in sight. However, spotting a couple enjoying drinks confirmed the place was open. After about a five-minute wait, we were greeted and shown to our table.
The drink menu boasted creative options, and I opted for the sangria, pairing it with a charcuterie board and warm olives to kick off our meal.
The arrival of our starters was prompt, and the warm olives were an immediate highlight – a surprisingly delightful twist we’d never encountered before. They paired wonderfully with the charcuterie selections. The Sangria itself was truly exceptional, easily surpassing even those I’ve savored in Andalusia.
Moving onto heavier fare, I tried the London Broil Bruschetta and the Steak Frites. The bruschetta was a unique and satisfying dish – substantial without being overwhelming, offering subtle yet distinctly appetizing flavors. The Steak Frites featured outstanding fries – wonderfully fresh and fried to absolute perfection, crispy and golden in a way that would impress even the most discerning Belgian. The steak was tender and cooked well; while perhaps not a life-altering dish on its own, it contributed nicely to an overall great plate.
Finally, the moment sparked by that Google Maps photo: the carrot cake. Topped with candied carrots—a novel touch I’d never encountered—it was remarkably light, refined, and felt like edible art, offering a sophisticated and memorable end to the meal.
Despite the initial wait to be seated, this Newport gem delivered a memorable dining experience that rivaled if not beat more upscale venues. What makes this restaurant stand out is its amazing food quality. I’ve been to pricier places that couldn’t match the taste here. Every dish, from the creative warm olives to the tasty bruschetta, perfect fries, and stunning carrot cake, was carefully made and served. This surprising find was a delicious highlight of our coastal drive. Highly recommended.
Myril was a wonderful experience in every way. Dinner, drinks, view, hospitality… ALL THE STARS! It was a packed house on a crazy holiday night but we had the best time!
We had the “Grand Board” I had the Duck Special and a (ok a couple) glasses of wine plus a wonderful cocktail suggested by the bartender to end my night.
Can’t wait to go back next time we’re in town!!!
