Take out spot for better and more quality masubis and rice balls in Waikīkī. Located not too far off the strip but more of a walking distance area if you’re staying nearby and want a snack and food to bring to the beach or your hotel room. Not too expensive, there’s no seating inside or outside and parking might be hard. The lines go by quickly and service is quick. We all ordered a Masubi or two and some rice balls. I got the spam masubi with egg, my friends got rice balls, good flavor of the spam but I felt like there was too much rice, so maybe you can ask for less. They sell lots of cute spam apparel inside and some drinks to go too.

IYASUME is a standout spot for quick, satisfying Musubi food in Waikiki. The musubi are neatly prepared with well-seasoned rice and a generous balance of toppings, making them feel both simple and thoughtfully made. Ingredients taste fresh, portions are filling without being heavy, and the overall quality is consistent even during busy hours. It’s an easy, reliable choice for a casual meal or snack that delivers authentic flavor without unnecessary fuss.

Going early in the morning is definitely the way to go! We tried both the musubi and the onigiri here. I really wanted to love this place because it’s known for its musubi, but unfortunately, it was nothing special. The spam-to-rice ratio was 1:3, which made it really dry. The filling in the onigiri was very dry, and again, the rice ratio was way too high. I would suggest trying the musubi for yourself, but I recommend skipping the onigiri. I did manage to pick up the original sauce, which was a nice bonus, but I won’t be returning for any of the food again.

This place is legendary and absolutely delicious! Visiting Musubi Cafe is a must whenever I visit Waikiki, and no trip would be complete without it. My favorite Musubi is the spam/eel/egg, but there are so many different types to choose from. You really can’t go wrong! Musubi Cafe is an inexpensive and fun way to try a hugely popular and influential local food in a cute shop. Please note that if you do come on a weekend morning or a holiday, you will likely have to wait in a line. However, the line goes fast and the food is well worth the wait.

I stopped by Musubi Cafe IYASUME while walking through Waikiki and it is easy to understand why it has become one of the most popular places in the area for spam musubi. The shop is small and focused primarily on takeout, but the quality and variety of musubi make it a must-try spot if you are visiting Honolulu.
The menu revolves around different types of musubi, with spam musubi being the signature item. The rice is packed tightly but still soft, and the spam is cooked with a light glaze that adds a slightly sweet and savory flavor. The balance between the rice, seasoning, and seaweed wrap is simple but very satisfying.
One thing that stood out to me was the variety. In addition to the classic spam musubi, there are several variations that include egg, bacon, avocado, or other toppings. This gives the shop a creative twist on a traditional Hawaii snack while still keeping the original concept intact.
Because of its location in Waikiki, the shop tends to have a steady flow of customers throughout the day. Even when there is a line, the service moves quickly since most orders are prepared in advance and ready to grab and go.
What I appreciated most about Musubi Cafe IYASUME is how it captures a piece of Hawaii’s everyday food culture. Musubi is a simple snack, but when done well it becomes a great representation of the island’s blend of Japanese and local influences.
Overall, Musubi Cafe IYASUME is a great place to grab a quick and authentic snack while exploring Waikiki. It is simple, affordable, and consistently good.

Stopped in while it didn’t look so busy inside (usually always had a lot of people waiting outside for their ticket numbers), and did not regret trying some things. Plum and shiso was good, and the avocado shrimp. The ahi poke bowl was meh, just plain. I’d come back again and try more things from the menu.

Local popular musubi place. Even though there are many places that make musubi, the musubi from Musubi Cafe somehow just tastes better, maybe it’s because of their made-to-order practice or their secret sauce. The first bite of the warm and freshly made musubi was very satisfying.

There is nothing finer than a great Spam musubi, and this place makes some of the best ones I’ve had. Whenever I am in the islands, I always make it a point to come by here and enjoy a couple to munch on while I walk around Waikīkī! Awesomely delicious and affordable.

Wide variety of musubi and other Japanese dishes here like udon and bento. It’s a small store with fast service and cute musubi merchandise. The double bacon with egg musubi, double shrimp musubi were good.
