It was a delightful surprise to experience the Musselshell Steakhouse. One would not expect to find a 5-star meal in such a small town, but Musselshell Steakhouse hits the mark, and locals in the know evidently travel from neighboring counties to dine here. At 6pm on a Wednesday I walked into the restaurant to find that all reservations in this fairly large (20 tables) were filled for the evening. Nonetheless I was accommodated at the bar, and had a wonderful meal with my family.

I went to their place in Martindale in Oct 2022. And although 2 years ago and a different location, the owner is still the same; and a truly professional chef. This is better than any steakhouse in New York City or any major city. The steaks had awesome flavor, the wedge salad awesome and creamed corn spectacular. And all of this in small town Montana and a family run business. What more could you ask for. I wholeheartedly recommend eating a fine meal here. You wont be disappointed.

If you find yourself in Harlowton, this is a must stop. Generous portions, friendly service, and local beers are available. If you don’t eat red meat, there are seafood options. I had the Tempura shrimp and it was fantastic. They also had some fantastic sides. I opted for the brussel sprouts and brocolini (you have a choice of two sides, which could be a separate meal in itself depending on your appetite.) This gem is certainly worth the whiskey.

Have heard about the chef being top notch! But that doesn’t do him justice! Every bite melted in your mouth! From the wedge salad to the key lime pie! Goodness aplenty! The chicken fried steak was as big as the plate! Crisp and delicious with every bite!

First, to be clear, this place is not in Martinsdale ha ha. I wish we had this kind of place in Townsend. It’s worth the drive though for an evening out! My wife and I split the New York with mashed potatoes and a wedge salad, and were more than satisfied! The chef knows how to cook a thick medium rare steak for sure. Potatoes were rich and garlicky, just right. Even the wedge salad was done up right. We found room for a fantastic slice of key lime pie to seal the deal. Will definitely visit again!
