this was my first time here and wow, i’m already looking forward to my next meal! everything from the easy reservation process, to the amazing service, to the dreamy food — i wish i could give higher than 5 stars!

FOOD
i love that they have a seasonal menu. it changes often so check the website! everything we tried was incredible. the short ribs just melt in your mouth. the new york steak might’ve been the best steak we’ve had at a restaurant (cooked to perfection and that chimichurri is AMAZING)! the pasta had a lovely kick and the cheeseboard and smoked salmon were fantastic! cheesecake was absolutely divine!!

SERVICE
they just knocked it out of the park here. from the hostess, to our fabulous server Arielle, to the food runners, and bussers — the service alone is reason enough to come back. absolute job well done mulvaney’s team!

AMBIANCE
so cutesy and fun. the plates are all adorable and unique per table! the decor is chic and lots of cool photos throughout.

PARKING
limited street paid parking so you may have to circle a bit. plan ahead so you can park close!

excited to come by and try the 28 day aged rib eye too *insert drool emoji* ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s clear they know how to hire exceptional staff—the service was impeccable! But the true star was the food. You can truly taste the thought and care the chef puts into every dish. We were particularly blown away by the soup; it was deeply flavorful and clearly made with expertise. I also heard the owner lets the staff try the meals, which speaks volumes. That kind of generosity, regardless of an employee’s position, is what fosters a happy team. Our server was wonderfully patient and helpful. We will absolutely be back for the incredible food and atmosphere.

If there was a 6th star, I would give it! Best dining experience I have had in quite some time. Chef John is the salt of the earth! We took the cooking class with him and then came back for dinner that night. He came to our table, shared a treat or two with us, talked about the food and was just an all-around great guy! The food was incredibly diverse in taste, texture and presentation. If you get a chance, take the cooking class, you won’t regret it! After walking with the staff to the farmers market for our ingredients, we got a true hands-on demo. All 15 of us then sat at one table and ate what we just made. Fabulous!!

We walked in on a Wednesday night celebrating a great work day; slightly nervous because it was a hour before closing. We were welcomed warmly and never felt rushed during our meal. Food and drinks were tasty. Decor is nice. Will come back!

What a fantastic dining experience I’ve had here, right from the service to the food. We were so well taken care of, the staff were truly on their feet and accommodating as much as possible and the food I can speak volumes about, but would recommend a meal at this place for sure.

We dined here on Valentine’s Day, and I want to start by saying our waitress was incredibly warm, attentive, and understanding throughout the evening. With the high volume that comes with a holiday like that, we truly appreciated her professionalism and kindness.

Unfortunately, since the kitchen is partially visible, we had a clear view of the dessert station and observed a cook repeatedly run his fingers through his hair and then immediately continue handling food without washing his hands. It was difficult to overlook and ultimately caused us to lose our appetite, so we were unable to finish our meal (though we had already enjoyed our starter).

The manager promptly removed the food and said, “I’ll take care of this,” which we appreciated, however there wasn’t much follow-up or acknowledgment of what had occurred.

We were only charged for our two drinks, which we genuinely appreciated and felt was handled fairly. I’m hopeful management addresses the hygiene standards moving forward, as the restaurant itself is beautiful and has a lot of potential.

Hadn’t been to Mulvaney’s in a very long time, and got to have a fantastic dinner here last night while celebrating my wife’s birthday. The food and service were absolutely amazing. We dropped in before our reservation for a cocktail, and had a great time talking with our bartender Debbie. She makes some great drinks and is a lot of fun to talk to. Thank you to everyone for a special evening. Can’t wait to go back!

We had high expectations for our Valentine’s dinner, but unfortunately, it seems they weren’t quite ready for the level of business they had that night.

We had a 6:45 pm reservation and were seated at a nice corner table with a red tablecloth. The ambiance was spot-on, but that ended up being the only positive part of the evening. We ordered cocktails and smoked salmon as an appetizer, which was just average.

By 7:00 pm, we had our drinks and appetizers, and we placed our dinner order. Our server was attentive, but after waiting 45 minutes for our food, we finally had to flag him down for an update. He explained that they were dealing with three times the usual number of orders, but honestly, that didn’t feel like a valid excuse.

To our surprise, it took a full hour to receive our meals: a small plate of angel hair pasta with crab and short rib over polenta. We quickly ate, as we had tickets to an 8:45 pm concert in Old Town Sac, and by then, we were starting to feel stressed.

Unfortunately, at no point did anyone offer any compensation for the long wait. A simple gesture like, “Sorry for the delay—here’s a small appetizer on us” or even comping the appetizer or dessert would have gone a long way in showing goodwill.

Given the number of restaurants in the area that offer great food, excellent service, and can handle busy nights with ease, it’s hard to imagine returning here anytime soon.

We were a last minute reservation and the only table was outside on the sidewalk. No one else sat next to us. It felt like our own little retreat. Despite where we sat, servers were very on point and attentive. Even the owner stopped by. The food was spot on and the drinks were off the hook. I can’t wait to go back. The only pic I took was the desert. We were too busy enjoying our time and the food.

Met some old friends visiting from out of town. The patio area was fantastic, shielded from wind and street noise but intimate and classy. The menu is fantastic and ingredients are sourced locally. We had a chat with the head chef, who was engaging and fun to talk to.

And the food! Everything was delicious! The service was fantastic. Drinks were very well made. Was the perfect evening where the food and atmosphere paired perfectly with old, dear friends. Will definitely be back.
