Amazing experience. The custom made interior is beautifully done and sets the tone right away. Chef Dew was incredible, he truly took us on a journey, explaining how to eat nigiri the authentic way and sharing his passion through every dish. The sushi was outstanding, especially the bacon-wrapped tomato and asparagus and the tsuneke. The fish was extremely fresh.
Yara was also wonderful, very friendly and accommodating. I’ve been to many sushi restaurants and had sushi in Asia, and this is by far the best sushi experience I’ve had in Orlando. Highly recommend!!!!

The best Japanese restaurant in Oviedo. The food is absolutely amazing! All Ingredients are so fresh, perfectly seasoned and thoughtfully presented.
Also, their skewers are so delicious!
The restaurant design makes you feel like you are sitting at an omakase style restaurant. The vibe is calm and relax, makes you want to take your time and enjoy every bite.
Definitely coming back and worth the drive. Everything is 10/10

This is the best sushi in Oviedo. Honestly one of the best Hamachi Kama I’ve had anywhere. Great freshness and knife technique on the sashimi/nigiri, flavors all balanced and on point, good atmosphere, and service.
Some classy low key Japanese music or lofi would hit hard with this vibe.
If I had to give criticism I’d prefer short grain rice in the donburi over medium grain, and the robata could use some char… But this is really nit picking and overall it’s a great experience.

My experience at Mugendai reminds me of what it feels like to really be treated. I’m not foodie. I generally don’t put much effort on seeking well-regarded dining places to visit. When I saw posts about Mugendai and photos from their customers, it felt almost like they came from tv show or food magazine. Out of curiosity, I and my wife decided to try. Let’s just say extraordinary was an understatement.
We chose Mystery Bento Box along with some Uni Nigiris. We were mesmerized watching the chef skillfully crafting each creation piece by piece into the box. I felt so special, so treated. Every little detail or touch added meanings to the items in front of us. I never knew there could be so much pleasure in dining. Everything was fresh, high-quality, and well-presented.
The place is welcoming, comfortable, and clean. Staff is knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly. I recommend calling for reservation as the seats can fill up fast during peak hours.

Such a special experience. The Fish was so fresh it was melting in our mouth. Never had nigiri that had so much flavor. We got to try Chef Dew’s homemade soy sauce and freshly, finely chopped wasabi, which we enjoyed every bite. Everything we tried was excellent, from the sushi to the grilled skewers, all cooked and seasoned perfectly. Chef Dew is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about his craft. He shared his training under a dedicated Japanese sushi master, introduced us to his knives, and guided us through different fish while explaining how to eat them properly. Truly one of the best dining experiences in Orlando.

This might just be the best nigiri and sashimi spot in Oviedo! A new kid on the block yet clearly backed by so much experience!!! You can tell just by looking at the food. Sit at the sushi bar and talk with Chef Dew for the full experience. Absolutely INCREDIBLE. So happy to finally have something like this added to this town! P.S. Ask the chef about his mystery box! And don’t miss the robata…. It’s easily the best around!!!

Hands down one of the best sushi experiences I’ve had. The toro tuna and seabream are absolute must orders fresh, buttery, and perfectly balanced. The squid carpaccio was unreal. Every bite showed serious attention to quality and technique. Shout out to Dew the head chef!!!

Eating at Mugendai was such a great experience! Super great atmosphere, and the restaurant is so beautifully decorated. Ordered the Omakase mystery box and the green tea crème brûlée, they were so tasty and aesthetically pleasing. The staff were super friendly and the food was such great quality for the price point! Will definitely be coming back, especially for the lunch specials. I will be telling all my friends and family about this hidden gem <3
