Had coffee and appetizers with a friend. I’m giving the food an average 3 stars. The service was great! Of the 2 items we ordered, there was a 1‐star (chicken Nachos) and there was a 5-star (Mini-Donuts.) The nachos looked beautiful when they arrived, but to us, they had a funky flavor, and we sent them back. On the other hand, the donuts may have been the best I ever had! Try and eat them all at the restaurant as they lose their perfection if eaten later.

My significant other and I have been loyal customers of Muddy Cow since the day we moved to North Branch. It was the very first restaurant we visited here, and we have consistently come back 2–3 times a month. We’ve spent a significant amount of money supporting this establishment — until today.
Every single time we order alcoholic beverages, we are carded. That is completely fine and expected. What is not fine is inconsistent enforcement and being treated as if valid identification suddenly isn’t good enough.
My significant other uses a federally recognized tribal enrollment ID — a legitimate, government-issued identification that has been accepted at this establishment by the same woman (who appears to be the manager) multiple times in the past. Today, with a cold, dismissive attitude, she refused to accept it after months of approving it.
You don’t get to decide when a federally recognized ID is valid based on your mood that day.
Policies are one thing. But arbitrary enforcement and selective acceptance of identification sends a very concerning message. Loyal customers deserve consistency and respect, not embarrassment.
We will absolutely be reconsidering where we spend our money going forward. My significant other and I have been loyal customers of Muddy Cow since the day we moved to North Branch. We had 4 in our group. One meal had cool not hot meat, another person in our group had the pot roast sliders. The sliders were sent back because the meat was ice cold. By the time they came back most of us were done eating. No one from management addressed the cold food, our waitress said sorry, thats it. The waitress was very friendly. The other meals were ok.

Muddy how has good food, but after my 3rd visit I cannot ignore the elephant in the room with this restaurant. The prices of their addons are wildly expensive. The regular prices are average, but add on waffle fries with sour cream for two people and you will tack and additional, almost $10 ($3 for waffle fries and nearly $2 for sour cream). Their regular burgers aren’t huge, but add on another patty and you’ll pay an extra $7. Buy a burger, add on onion rings with a double patty and you’ll pay $26.50 for that combination. Luckily, there are weekday specials such as half off apps, wings, or burger days to help. I think the prices may be affecting their customer turnout as there were only a few people at the bar and only a couple families eating at 12:30 pm on a Sunday. The bathroom had broken latches on the stalls and there was no hot water. I hope the kitchen has hot water, because sterilizer for the dish water has to have hot water to work. Last summer, I remember the patio being open but lots of trash and leaves made it appear like it wasn’t being maintained. Overall, they have good food, but lots of issues otherwise.

I went a couple hours before close on Sunday night. The service was excellent – the woman who waited my table was very friendly and attentive, refilling my drink before I had to ask and checking up on me regularly. The food was great – I had the cheese curds and the MN fried sushi. Both were super fresh and very tasty. I can’t wait to return.

Stopped in to check it out, never been here though I live pretty close. We had the pot roast sliders, fish special and Mac n cheese. Got served fast and the food was excellent! Very friendly staff as well. Good job! We’ll be back. Glad we finally tried it

The service was slow. The food was not good enough to overcome the service as the burger was overcooked but overall the atmosphere was okay. I’m sure there are better things on the menu. However, I tried a simple cheeseburger and it was just okay for a place that has a cow as part of their name.

We had an amazing dining experience here tonight. My husband and 2 young kids and I came in to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Our server Lauren was spectacular. She was so patient with our kids and very engaging. They adored her! Every staff member was great! The food was delicious and portion sizes were big. Bonus that kids eat free on Tuesdays! Lauren brought out mini donuts for my husband and she and I did the applebees birthday song for him because we found out we both used to work for applebees. She was hilarious and kind and went above and beyond for our whole family. Thank you Lauren!!!

My wife and I moved to North Branch from Saint Paul in September, and one of the very first places we ate at was Muddy Cow.
She had the ghoulash and I had the meatloaf, it is now one of our staples when we decide to eat out. We get it every single time now. 5 stars across the board for the food, the service and the atmosphere – a great place to dine out!

My son and I have severe celiac, so when we travel it can be difficult to find places to eat. We’re in the process of moving to the area and were thrilled when we found this place on Google. Their gluten free burgers are absolutely AMAZING. And I want the staff to know that the gluten free pizza did NOT get my son sick. He just has the flu! (Grandpa was upset and called the restaurant today to ask if the pizza really was gluten free, when he saw my son puking. They assured us that it was GF, and I believe them. We’ve had the burgers twice with no trouble at all. We’ll definitely be back!
