If you’re in Portland, making the trip out to Sandy for Mount Hood Cheesesteaks is an absolute must. The Recession Burger is everything you want in a burger: juicy, packed with flavor, and made from beef that was literally butchered just two days ago. You can taste the difference in every bite. The fries are perfectly crispy and seasoned, the kind you can’t stop eating. This food cart isn’t just good, it’s destination-worthy. If you’re anywhere near Mount Hood or Portland, put this spot on your list—you’ll be glad you did.

They make the best burger in the town of Sandy. Their cheesesteak loaded fries are beyond reproach. Owners are super nice and always welcoming. I’m a permanent customer and will continue to be. Love this cart.

We’re local, and never been to the Sandy pod (maybe my wife went 6 years ago for marginal fish and chips, but that’s not the point.) Ordered a mushroom cheesesteak, a double deluxe, and a side of fries. I can’t speak to “authentic” cheesesteaks, but that was damn good. And the double deluxe was worthy of praise – one of the best burgers we’ve had in quite a while and the best in town – by far. Fries? Those were perfect too. I wish this place was a Sandy B&M that served beer – it would be the best food place in town.

Best smash burger around and at a fair price. They source everything locally and make the food from scratch. The food here is incredible! Made with love and a lot of flavor. My hood cheesesteaks keep crushing it

Alright, listen up, PNW foodies, your local NY food snob here—I’ve been seeing a lot of people asking where the best burger in Sandy is and I’ve officially found the BEST burger in the region! It’s hiding at… wait for it… Mt. Hood Cheesesteaks. Yes, I said “Cheesesteaks” , but apparently, they moonlight as burger geniuses.
This burger was so good, I almost wrote it a love letter. The bun? Toasted like it just got back from a tropical vacation. The patty? So juicy it probably hydrates better than your water bottle. The toppings? Let’s just say they’d make a salad cry out of jealousy…. If you haven’t been yet, what are you even doing with your life? Get there now. And don’t ask if I saved you a bite—there was no “saving” involved. I blacked out and it was gone.

Amazing cheesesteaks, I don’t remember the name of the one I had but it had jalapeños and I put pepper jack cheese on it. It’s $18 for a large sandwich, but it lasted me two meals. Can’t wait to burn off calories so I can go again.

Had the shroom cheesesteak. Perfect. Garth obliged me with a glove change, thank you Garth. Glad we finally gave it a try, also had fries and the recession burger. Great flavor highly recommended
Since the original review I’ve become a recession burger junky…. 1 time per week, usually, the double recession is my go to heading back up the hill after work or running errands. This burger is hands down the best burger you can get anywhere in the area. The patties are smashed perfectly, I prefer ketchup and pickle on mine. Price point is very fair and again, blows away any other option in it’s price range. The food is also very consistent, so you fall in love with something and it is a repeat every time you order. Heather and Garth are great mtn folks and we are very glad they decided to help feed us up here on the mtn. Do yourself a favor and go try something off the menu, you won’t be disappointed !

A few weeks ago, following a ski trip, I visited this spot and decided to give their Philly Cheesesteak a try. However, instead of the classic option, I opted for the Bacon Ranch half sandwich and paired it with their cajun fries. While the sandwich itself was quite enjoyable – it’s tough to go wrong with beef, seasoning, and cheese – the Cajun fries were a bit of a letdown. The seasoning didn’t stick well to the fries, resulting in a decent experience. Despite this, I’d still recommend giving this place a try, though perhaps skip the Cajun fries.

This is my FAVORITE place to get a Philly and fries. My husband and I like spicy Phillies and they nail it every single time. The fries are also delicious every single time! We drive almost an hour to come to this place on average once a month because it’s that good. The owners are amazingly sweet people as well.
