Reviews
I was in the area last night and wanted some soul food, clearly Peach Cobbler Cafe was the win for the night. Upon walking in, I was greeted with a huge personality filled “Welcome to Peach Cobbler Cafe!” As I took in the overall ambiance, there is a mostly open floor plan. The menu was to my left as soon as you walked in which allowed me to figure out what I wanted before walking up to the register. In full transparency. I was taken aback by the prices, however, understanding that inflation is real I continued and placed my order.
I decided on the Rib Tips Dinner with Macaroni and Cheese and Yams. Of course, I chose Peach Cobbler as my dessert… Upon placing my order I went to have a seat. All the booths towards the back were dirty which was odd as there was no one in the restaurant besides one other person who was towards the front. Hmmm, this made me wonder when the last wipe down was for any of the tables. Nonetheless, I decided to take my chances and have a seat.
About 10 minutes after sitting down my order was ready. As you can see by the images, the presentation was amazing and the portions were a good size for $35.
Let’s talk Taste:
Yams – The yams tasted like doctored up canned yams. They weren’t bad overall, however, I wasn’t flavor-ly pleased with the approach to making them taste “not so canned.” On a scale of 1 – 10, I would rate them a 5.
Macaroni and Cheese – The Mac and Cheese was good. Flavorful, well done, cheesy and definitely satisfied the homemade craving. On a scale of 1 – 10, I would rate this side a 7.
Rib Tips – The Rib Tips were meaty, well seasoned, smokey, and tender. The sauce was mild, well flavored, and paired perfect with the smokiness of the tips and the natural presence of the pork juice. On a scale of 1 – 10, I would rate the tips an 8.3.
Cornbread – The cornbread was very good. It was spongy and had a smooth texture to it. The sweetness to corn ratio was spot on which allowed for a satisfying of the sweet and salty desire. Along with the perfect flavor balance, it was buttery. Oh yeah! This is the kind of cornbread that would pair well with dinner or coffee. LoL! On a scale of 1 – 10, I would rate the cornbread a 9.
Peach Cobbler – The Peach Cobbler stole the entire show. I’m talking what in the good goodness, grandma in the kitchen showing off, soul pleasing goodness. This dessert was amazing and delectable enough to make me come back for an order of Peach Cobbler all by itself. On a scale of 1 – 10, I would rate the Peach Cobbler a 10.
**Sidenote, ensure to check your bag before you leave. My peach cobbler was left out of my bag originally.**
Overall, my experience at Peach Cobbler Cafe wasn’t bad. For $35, I anticipated better flavor profiles amongst each dish, however, I wouldn’t be opposed to ordering a meal from here again.
7/28 visit – customer service still good. Food was good this day – ordered a catfish and a oxtail plate. My hubby liked the oxtail and the fish was good but do think it’s catfish. The mac and cheese has been hit or miss since first visit but food always seems fresh. This is my 3rd visit since the original post.
Online they look expensive but inside they seem a bit cheaper. The variety and appearance of what I was looking for, I almost didn’t order, but because it was my first time I wanted to try the food here. There is enough here for you to put a good meal together.
Now, let’s get into the food.
1. Smothered turkey wing plate with dressing and string beans 4/5. This plate might have gotten a 5/5 if I had known they were out of cranberry sauce prior to ordering dressing. Maybe they could have added gravy on the dressing in lieu of the cranberry sauce. However, the dressing was good, so I was okay. The turkey wing was fall off the bone, but could have used more seasoning. The green beans were flavorful, but some were too stringy to eat.
2. Veggie plate with collard greens, Mac n cheese, and yams 5/5! The veggies are the strongest point here. No complaints on this plate.
3. Cornbread 5/5 Honestly, I ate this as the dessert! A piece came with both plates.
4. Half gallon fruit punch 3/5. It was SWEET! This is very sweet, especially for me. My 11 year old couldn’t get enough, but it was sugar in a cup so I know that’s why he liked it.
Prices were where I expected them to be for the type of cooking you are getting. I do wish the staff was more approachable and willing to help you through the process. The bathroom, if you can hold it, please do.
Even with that, the staff was truly welcoming and friendly. Every piece of both my spouse’s meal and mine were excellent, and you would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn’t try their desserts as boyh yhe banana pudding and peach cobbler were top notch. Gladly would visit again and proudly award them my coveted “Certified Mad Good” rating.
Our first visit into the cafe, we were kind of looking at the juices and the food. Rude sever in authoritative tone ask if she could help us and proceeds with because we are closing soon. I inquire about the hours. She states she doesn’t know what the door says. We then ask for a little direction as to how dinners and sides are served etc. directions are given. We order. While she makes our dinners I ask who Mrs. Ruby is , she says she has no idea who that is. cool!!! We take two dinners and ribs and 3 sides. Totaling $80.16. 1 side of black eye peas, 1 side of cobbler and 1 side dressing w/ gravy. I’m on vacation and upon getting back to my RV i discovered my peach cobbler, and dressing which I watched them dish out and of course they charged me, but none of those items made it into my bag. They however did make it on to my receipt. See below. Not a good experience. Was turned off and decided not to eat. My kids seem to enjoy! 1 star only because I had to give a ⭐️ won’t return except to get a refund on the food I never received. I called another location a guy answered, maybe we will try that location in the future. See pics. I gave the food 3 ⭐️ even though I hadn’t tried it. My husband seems satisfied so I didn’t judge to harshly there.
Update: called and called and called could not get a souls to call us back regarding the refund and rude service. We went in a few days later. Explain the situation to a cashier/server ( different) employee. She offered to give us the food that we didn’t receive. My husband recorded the entire interaction from the moment we exit the car. I wasn’t feeling great that day and decided to just take the food. The cobbler and the dressing. So yes I have dry dressing no other sides just dressing and cobbler. the dressing was awful! Also I’d like to point out that half of piece of turkey in the pic. That what you see is bone and skin no meat. I was charged full price for bone. So yeah that was my experience. We won’t be returning to any locations!
