I wanted Chitterlings and so as a GOOGLE REVIEWER, I searched and found this establishment. I was so excited to place my order. My husband ordered the Oxtail dinner. I asked for an additional side of Oxtails. When my husband came home with the food I was very disappointed. Everything looked old. My side order of oxtails had rice smothered with gravy with 3 oxtails. I called to speak with the Mgr. and to advise of the situation. She stated that that is how the sides come…automatically with rice. I told her I was not made aware. I also explained of how our food was not fresh and more rice and gravy than meat.I also found hair in my chitterlings. I did an initial review and Ms. B asked me if she can correct the orders because she did not want another bad review. I said yes. Fast forward a week later…due to my schedule and this storm I contacted Ms B showing pics of food served and hair found in food. After deep thought, why would I want corrected plates when I didn’t get the first ones right?? I requested a refund which she stated she cannot do. I will charge that to the game. May the 69.75 be a blessing to the business. Maybe use it towards a manual to teach her workers some customer service skills add how to speak to customers…and how to serve fresh food. Let the pictures speak for itself.

The rice was not “done”. The gravy had no flavor. The flounder, that tasted like whiting, was too salty, The mac & cheese was dry and tough. The okra & lima beans tasted ok but were really hot like they had been heated in a microwave. I will not go back.

I soooo don’t like to down our businesses. I also think that by speaking truth, establishments have the opportunity to improve.
Sat aprox. 3PM:
The exterior aesthetics are nice. Once inside, there’s a wet board, and you have to memorize WHAT IS AVAILABLE THAT DAY. The hospitality is lacking, even with there only being like (6) people in there. When you order, and say an item that they are not serving that day, they ask “Did you read the wet board?” Somehow, they don’t see how this is offensive. Service was 4/10, they were professionally pleasant, (this is different than genuinely pleasant. Theres a difference.) Bottom line, servers are borderline rude.
The sweet tea was good. The remaining food, I had turkey wing (1) was cooked, not seasoned, same with the black eye peas, and cabbage ($19.) All thoroughly cooked, but lightly seasoned (if at all). My wife had baked chicken, baked beans, cabbage,and rice and gravy. The chicken was tender but under seasoned. The gravy was watery. The cabbage and corn bread were decent ($19.)
Overall, there was nothing amazing or even average about the food. Put me in mind of having dinner at that old Aunties house, that USED to be a great cook, but life and time has taken its toll. You eat based on what memory’s and what it SHOULD be…
Improve your hospitality, hit Ollie’s up for some seasonings, keep your workers from posted up in the parking lot, then traveling through the establishment smelling “loud”.
Ohh the plates!! Wait until you see the shallow plates they serve your food on. Only when your done do you realize this optical illusion. If the food were Masterful / comparable this wouldn’t be an issue. But for the price you pay, every deficiency is an issue.

This was an all around terrible experience. First red flag were the screaming children in the booth behind me. Next red flag was the wait time for the food. It was 40 mins before I got my food. Not sure why the ox tail was so expensive especially with the portion size. My wife got the lamb and when I say it was inedible, that’s being polite. I would never eat there or advise anyone to ever eat there. It’s just a terrible experience waiting to happen

Me and my fiancé tried this restaurant while visiting Columbia for a convention. We were hesitant to come because of the review being at the time was a 3.9. We decided to try it anyways, and I’m so glad we did.I ordered the hamburger steak, with Mac and cheese and green beans. He chose the lamb chops with lima beans and okra and Mac and cheese. The food was so good!!! We enjoyed it very much and shared some laughs and smiles with the staff. We are definitely putting this restaurant on our food list for anytime we are back in the area. Also the lemonade was my favorite. It wasn’t overly sweet to the point where I feel like my arteries are clogged like at other restaurants. It was just right.

I ordered my food by phone. I asked for the total and the lady stated she in the kitchen she doesn’t know. When i arrived the location looked nice. I waited in the entree for a minute until i decided to just enter by the bar. I then asked the waitress for my order. I ordered fried chicken, Mac and cheese, rice and gravy and cream corn. The fried chicken was very good, seasoned really well. The Mac and cheese was good. It looked great in presentation and had great flavoring in taste aswell. The creamed corn was really good. Lots of flavor savoring from seasonings throughout the food. The rice and gravy was ok. Had a lot of gravy which had an Italian flare which caused heartburn. The cornbread was good aswell. The restaurant was clean and decorated nice. Overall my rating is based on the food. I support black own businesses. If i could recommend anything it would be to allow people to know what the price is before hand so they can be prepared and not have to guess an amount. And have staff at least greeting or some sense of direction at the entree instead of just leaving folks to decide where to walk. The food is defineltey good and i will definitely come back based on the food alone.

My second time coming here, I brought My family this time and all the food was great and fresh! Ms. B is a very sweet person as well as her employees. Soul food cooking at its finest! Had a soul food craving today and they REALLY hit the spot! The food was amazing and seasoned perfectly. My wife and I both looked at each other and smiled but no one was talking because we were enjoying everything. If you are looking for a hidden gem, this is it. Great food, good service, generous portions (feels like I got my money’s worth), and nice staff. We will definitely be back for Sunday dinners very often.
