Great atmosphere, pretty good service, but food is unfortunately not of our taste.

We tried the green pozole and it was tasteless. The steak tacos were not bad, but we have had better. If you like your steak simple and season it with a lot of chili sauce, then they are great, as the steak quality is good. We however prefer well seasoned steak with not so much sauce.

Decent food. Not amazing. My fiancé liked his ceviche. Biggest issue was the perfume the server was wearing. She was pleasant enough, but the scent was really strong and really bad tbh. I’m sure she just didn’t know and no one is willing to tell her. It was hard to enjoy the food because of it. Hopefully this review helps.

TLDR: The enchiladas were the star of the show for me and the refried black beans were amazing. Cute decor with a nice bar and dining area. Margaritas were ok. Staff couldn’t answer questions about anything (English was her second language but even simple questions about spice level and if they use sweet and sour – she did not know the answers or appear to understand). I would go back for the food and ambiance. Really good. 4 out of 5 stars.

We got there early on a Wednesday, just as the Lily and other local workers were getting out for lunch.

I like the two different vibes in the dining area and bar. They have live music and shows on the weekends.

We had:

1.Complimentary chips and salsa

2. Queso dip ($5.99) – this is a thing you never find in California and while I don’t care for it, my mom loves it. This queso was *very* watery and the most disappointing things of our meal but my mom still ate it .

3. Enchiladas Rancheras ($12.99) – “Three corn enchilada tortillas, stuffed with marinated grilled chicken and covered with red ranchera salsa lettuce, radishes and mexican cheese and sour cream served with refried black beans.” (DELICIOUS. I never had radish and lettuce on my enchiladas and it was so good. All white meat chicken with a great marinade. Small but savory enchiladas. The black beans were the BEST I’VE EVER HAD hands down)

4. Hard Shell Tacos with Ground Beef (One for $2.19) – Mom loved it and said it was better than Taco Bell. She’s a basic food B so that was a big compliment

5. Texas Margarita ($12) – Their top shelf. The server wasn’t able to answer my questions about the margaritas (I don’t like sweet and sour) so I ordered the top shelf. I thought it was OK. There was sweet and sour in it and it wasn’t strong at all, which was OK for it being 11:30 AM

6. Virgin Strawberry Margarita ($9.99) for mom. She drank it all and loved it.
Off the menu tomatillo hot sauce. Smokey in flavor. I thought it was OK. Did the trick at adding heat to notoriously non-spicy Hoosier food.

Overall, I’d go back for the food and to try a different drink.

ONE CAVEAT:
Service was friendly, but, the server struggled to have answers or understand us and we were clear in our questions. I know English is her second language, but it did make for some challenges in understanding spice levels, ingredients, etc. She appeared to either not understand or to not know the answer. The reason I mention this is that if you are gluten free, vegetarian, or vegan you might have a hard time getting answers to things like if the refried black beans are cooked in lard (I don’t know) or if they can modify something for GF.

Overall, I’d say a generous 4 out of 5 stars for ambiance, friendliness, parking/location, and the entrees. I’ll be back for sure for another go.

Food was great.Service was very bad.Waitress came to the table one time. No refills..no do you need anything..nothing..Had to walk in and ask for the bill. After that they could not figure out how to run the gift card so I had to pay cash. Giving the gift card for 50$ away as we will not be going back. Choose another place

It was my first time going to Mr Tequila. I would have to say it was average. The service was very slow it took about 10 minutes for someone to come and take my order. After that it took about 30 minutes for my food to come. I don’t mind waiting but if I have to the food should be worth it. Sadly it wasn’t my rice and beans were cold. My steak tacos were bland but the tamale was very good. I probably won’t return but it was an experience I won’t forget.

DO NOT EAT HERE! Our whole table has food poisoning. We came for lunch on aug. 29 2025 and to start the waitresses were terrible. Very bad attitudes. Very bad service. We had to ask for drink four times and finally she scoffed and went and got them. The food came out cold and came out in about 5 min. (Party of 5) salsa tasted sweet and spoiled. Terrible experience. Taking my 8 month pregnant wife to the hospital right now.

Ended up here by chance and we were nicely surprised. It catered well for all of us (vegetarians and non vegetarians). Food is great and sizes are fair, with some dishes being quite substantial. Nice friendly service.

I’ve eaten here a few times now. Phenomenal food and service every time! Tried a different dish every time I’ve gone, every thing was good even down to the chips and salsa. Also has a 50’s diner vibe, which makes the experience more fun! Can’t wait to go back next time I’m in Indianapolis.
