Came to Birmingham for a show and found this gem in the Five Points area. Parking can be tricky but I thought this place was definitely worth it! The men behind the counter were very nice and patient and their falafel was the best I’ve tasted anywhere in the southeast. Their chicken shawarma was delicious as well, especially with the garlic sauce. We’ll definitely be back to try more things!

Definitely one of the best shawarmas I’ve had. It’s a good size, packed with plenty of chicken and a generous amount of garlic sauce. I think they serve mayonnaise on the side (or maybe it’s more garlic sauce?), but either way, it’s absolutely delicious. The price is pretty reasonable too. The only downside was the service — it was really slow, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. I ended up waiting nearly 45 minutes for three shawarmas. Not sure if that’s the usual wait time.

Fully authentic experience, not a cheesy copy n paste setup. The food was wonderful and true to its roots, the service was responsive and genuine, a kid took my order, couldn’t have been any older than 13, the room was appropriately decorated with middle eastern fashion in a tasteful way that wasn’t over done. And they appealed to a western audience with their menu while not deviating from their source. Mr Schwarma is the stuff.

Decided to try it out since it has pretty good reviews but it was a complete let down.

The person who took my order was blowing their nose in a napkin. And I didn’t see him wash his hands. I thought he was going to make my order so I was kinda wary but thankfully he directed it to another guy. I think the guy is new cause he was being instructed on what to do. New guy went and put 2 gloves to start prepping the shawarma and the person who took my order put 1 glove. Then the person who took my order decided to slice the meat off the skewer. He was cutting off the burnt part of the beef and when he had a hard time he used the hand with no glove to touch the burnt part of the meat to slice it off. I thought he threw it out so I just shrugged it off since I wasnt eating it. But half way through my shawarma I tasted the burnt meat. If I knew he was going to mix it with the other beef slices I would’ve asked him to remake my order since I don’t want the burnt beef that he touched with his barehands without washing after blowing his nose. As soon as I bit into the burnt meat I just couldn’t stomach it anymore. Just threw it away.

Anyway, the other new guy finished making my shawarma but when he was putting it in their to go container half of the contents in the shawarma fell off and it looks like a giant slop (picture for referrence.) And some meat fell of the griddle they use to warm up the meat and he just grabbed it with his gloves and just put it inside. Not sure if that gloves got burnt along the process or not but come on the spatula is literally right there.

If they were busy I can understand buy I’m the only one in the restaurant so there is no excuse for what I just experienced.

This has to be the best schwarma we ever had. Amazing texture for the chicken, the crisp pitas, and the flavor was amazing! It is also a treat to be able to see the meat cooking while you wait. Also the serving sizes are huge!

Very disappointing..dry meat.
I had a bowl and it was just a bunch of dried meat with a ton of the white sauce to hide that fact. Be expected to pay more than you get.

They need to improve customer service from the cashier. I had to wait for the food for about 25 minutes. Very tasty food. It’s difficult, if not impossible, to find a parking spot.

I went to Mr. Shawarma today. Everyone was welcoming, and the shawarma was great. I took a quick video because I really liked how they made it. I’ll definitely be back!

This is as close to Halal Guys that we can get in BHM. Prices are relatively close but portion sizes are much bigger and flavor is definitely better. The dessert options are also topnotch. There are a good amount of tables to dine in. This being in five points, parking during peak times may be a PITA. Also, probably not a good option for a quick bite since it takes a while for them to get your order.
