My daughter and I love to come here to play games! I work at a local tint shop and the owner of this location had come in one day to get some tint and a truck bed install, he was so sweet he brought us all some extra meat pizzas just as a thank you! They were delicious. I really love that you can request whatever pizza you’d like them to make and in a matter of minutes, it’s out at the buffet hot and fresh and ready to eat. Customer service here is always very friendly and welcoming. My little one LOVES to spend a lot of time playing the games, we’re getting really good at the claw machine where you get the ticket rings. Recently they added more new games to play with brought tons of joy to my little one’s heart! I love this place because it just feels safer than taking her to main event where there’s a bunch of older kids and there’s no one consuming alcoholic beverages either. Great place to spend quality time feeling safe with younger kiddos.

I think it’s important to have proper expectations when going to a restaurant.
– for the food, it was exactly what I expected. It wasn’t the best pizza I’ve ever had, but it was fine hot and was prepared well.
– The customer service was great that’s what set this place from just average to good. Everyone was very welcoming, especially the young person that was in the arcade.
– The place was Also, very clean from front to back
– The price was great for everything that you got, including the price for the games at the arcade
Ultimately, I went there with my two young children as a father daughter date, and it was a great experience and I would go back

Great pizza. I’ve been going to the Essen location since I was a kid. The owner is super friendly, and the staff is always pleasant and professional. I prefer the original layout before renovations just cause I am a kid of the seventies and eighties. The new location is bright and definitely more spacious, just not as much of a cozy at home feeling to it. If you need a good deal and you’re feeding a houseful of people, stop in.

Mr. Gatti’s Pizza – Essen Lane, Baton Rouge, LA
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mr. Gatti’s Pizza on Essen Lane is a nostalgic gem that’s made a triumphant return to Baton Rouge. Under new management, it has become a go-to spot for family fun and fantastic pizza. Whether you’re dining in, ordering to go, or stopping by for delivery like I recently did, Mr. Gatti’s delivers quality and crave-worthy food every time.
Their buffet is the ultimate highlight, offering a wide variety of pizzas to suit any taste. From classic favorites to unique combinations, there’s something for everyone. Don’t forget the dessert pizzas and cheese bread—they’re not to be missed! While I didn’t eat during my recent visit, I was impressed by the lively, welcoming atmosphere. Families with kids were enjoying themselves, with parents helping little ones pick out their slices. It’s the perfect spot for a fun, casual outing.
What’s even more telling about Mr. Gatti’s popularity is its loyal customer base. I was delivering a pizza to a customer in Prairieville, a neighboring town, and it was clear they went out of their way to satisfy a craving for Mr. Gatti’s over closer options. The pizza traveled exceptionally well, thanks to my insulated bag, and I’m sure it arrived just as fresh and delicious as it left the restaurant.
The space itself is large, with ample seating and plenty of parking. There’s even overflow parking available nearby, though it rarely seems necessary. Accessibility is also a plus, as the location is wheelchair-friendly.
Mr. Gatti’s has stood the test of time, and it’s clear why. The pizza is just as good—if not better—than I remember from my childhood. If you’re in Baton Rouge, make it a point to stop by Mr. Gatti’s Pizza on Essen Lane. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a first-time visitor, you won’t be disappointed.
10/10, highly recommend. I’ll definitely be back soon!

My kids’ favorite food is pizza, so for their weekly treat, I chose Mr. Gatti’s. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. There are lots of options on the buffet. All of the food was delicious. The arcade was the highlight of the visit. It is small, so they don’t have as many options as larger arcades, but I loved being able to let my kids play what they wanted, and I was still able to see them both. They also loved the “play until you win” claw machines. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we will definitely go again.

My kids loves this place and it’s very affordable. Pizza and then games right after. The games are not expensive. I definitely recommend you to bring the kids.

The buffet is now $14.90 per person after tax. I loved Gattis growing up, but it’s just not worth it anymore.

Back in the late ’70s and early ’80s, we used to frequent Mr Gatti’s Pizza in Houston. Sadly, I do not believe there are any more locations there.
The breadsticks were like they were 40+ years ago!!!
