Took a seat to eat a few bites before leaving. After eating a portion of the burger I felt unwell. So i ended up taking the rest home. When home i noticed the burger was undercooked (pictures included). Feeling queazy and regretting the money spent… couldn’t see meat clearly while sitting in the store since the lighting was dim, it’s an empty space, and weird vibe – not worth it.

We were not greeted upon arrival, and the staff seemed disengaged. I ordered the ‘Mr. Falafel’s Platter for Two,’ which is the most expensive item on the menu, but it was underwhelming. The platter had an excessive amount of rice, very little salad, and we only received two types of meat despite the menu stating four different types of meat? I also didn’t find the freshness and bold flavors I typically enjoy in halal/falafel places. Overall, I expected more balance, variety, and value given the price

The kufta kebab platter was SO GOOD. The meat was so tender and packed with flavor. Service was attentive and efficient. If you want the kufta though it’s recommended that you call for pick up before you go because it takes about 15 min to prepare. Highly recommend if you’re craving halal food!!

If you’re anywhere near Newark and craving truly authentic Middle Eastern flavor, Mr. Falafel is an absolute must-try. This place is a hidden gem that delivers freshness, generosity, and genuine hospitality in every bite.
From the moment you walk in, you can smell the warm spices and the freshness of the food being made right in front of you. Their falafel is perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside, the kind of falafel that takes you straight back to the Middle East. And the portions? Huge — they don’t hold back.
Their hummus is unbelievably smooth, their tahini tastes homemade, and the shawarma is seasoned to perfection. You can truly feel that every dish is made with care, not rushed or commercial. Even the bread is soft, warm, and fresh — exactly how it should be.
What really makes Mr. Falafel special is the people. The staff treat you like family, always friendly, always generous, and always making sure you leave happy and full. Places like this are rare.
f you want real, bold, delicious flavor — not the Americanized version — Mr. Falafel is hands down the best Middle Eastern spot in Newark. Everything tastes homemade, authentic, and made with love. Highly recommended.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 — A must-visit!

sitting, thankful i chose pita square for lunch. i was craving something to make me feel fulfilled, not full. balanced and fresh. i chose to be picky today and it went in my best favor. we’ll get into the food, but let’s start off with the atmosphere. pita square is fresh, clean, and airy. which makes it a great spot to relax and enjoy your meal in peace. colorful with subtle decor, clean bathrooms, great customer service, and an affordable menu. i got the $7.99 lamb platter: well seasoned lamb, rice, and colorful salad, drizzled with white and hot sauce. everything is very fresh. the best of all, perfect portion to eat some and pack for later. giving them their 10s, stop by and give it a try. i’m glad i did. i feel great after eating.
