We had the General Tao’s chicken and it was gummy and over breaded. The salted crispy chicken had good flavor but didn’t have any vegetables with it so it felt more like a plate of chicken nuggets. The place was clean and the staff were great.

Mr. Chen’s is the GOAT! I love their spicy chicken stir fry. Shoutout to the staff too who is always friendly and attentive! Best Asian place in Birmingham!

Authentic Chinese food that hits the spot! For the best experience, order a few dishes and share with a group. The portions are meant for family style. I would recommend the salt and pepper squid! Even when we eat family style, we always have a lot of food left over. Great spot to stop and eat and do some groceries.
The restaurant is located inside of the Asian grocery market. The restrooms are actually in the market and they aren’t always the cleanest.

They have lots of authentic Chinese dishes as well as the common ones. Highly recommend to try authentic ones. Portions are more than enough for 2 folks per dish on many dishes. Waiters explain nicely what’s what. Also look online for the pictures. Entrance is through a huge Asian grocery store but that’s about it…once inside the decor etc is very modern and well kept.

This restaurant is located inside the heart of a fully authentic Chinese grocery store. Upon walking in we were greeted by the welcoming staff and taken to our table. Orders were placed and we chose different variations of their noodle soup. The meat was tender and the broth was delicious and flavorful. When I tell you this bowl was big I mean it two people most likely could not finish it. I left, full and satisfied, eager to return on my next trip. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Chinese food and environment.

The food was exceptional and the service was amazing! We had lunch on Saturday, ordered combo lo mein and honey chicken and it was absolutely wonderful. Will definitely hit this restaurant again when coming thru Birmingham.

GREAT dining room for this genre. The food is a dissapointment if you like Red Pearl or Buford Highway. The grocery part is much nicer than Super Oriental Market with Red Pearl…
I guess this is a good choice for folks to be weaned off P.F. Chang and sticky sweet entrees.
I gave them a couple chances. Red Pearl has my heart….or at least my palate/stomach.

Was in town for business and after a day of traveling, felt like getting some Chinese food.
Idea was good, choice of restaurant NOT SO GOOD!
Ordered sesame chicken and rice plus an egg roll.
Chicken had MORE FAT than the meat itself!
Rice was UNDERCOOKED!
Egg roll felt like Aldi type of food.
With tip I paid $23. Not coming back surely!
